Maō, the supreme ruler known as the Dark Lord, governed the Dark Realm before its annihilation. Her existence was fundamentally bound to the realm's mana crystals, which fueled the magic sustaining her domain and its people. When a magical girl shattered the central mana crystal, Maō vanished alongside her realm.
She later resurrected in a diminished, child-like form within Kyouko Jingu's home, triggered by the mana crystal fragments Kyouko gathered. This new body possesses long black and red hair, red eyes, two prominent horns, and a simple shoulder-revealing dress. She is consistently barefoot.
Personality-wise, Maō displays near-total indifference to anything beyond consuming food and sleeping. She exhibits an extraordinary capacity for gluttony, capable of devouring entire spreads in seconds. This voracious appetite serves as her primary means to regain strength. She rarely speaks, maintaining a blank expression in most situations. Subtle shifts show her humming contentedly when given food and choosing to reside with Kyouko due to reliable access to meals. Her core personality aligns with her pre-destruction demeanor, suggesting she was accustomed to indulgence by Dark Realm inhabitants, particularly Jahy.
Her abilities remain potent despite her small stature. She possesses superhuman speed, enabling imperceptible movement when seizing food. Shape-shifting allows her to transform into a cloud-like state for rapid travel or compact herself into confined spaces like school bags. As the source of the Dark Realm's magic, her presence enables other demons to wield supernatural powers. Crucially, she can manifest physically wherever sufficient mana crystals accumulate, though once manifested she moves freely without location restrictions.
Maō's relationships center on practical needs rather than emotional bonds. She passively accepts care from Jahy, who remains fiercely protective of her dignity despite their changed circumstances. Her residence with Kyouko stems solely from the magical girl's consistent food provision. The catalyst for the Dark Realm's destruction was her younger sister Su's misguided attempt at reconciliation through a magical girl proxy, resulting in catastrophic consequences that destroyed the realm and stranded its inhabitants on Earth.
