TV-Series
Description
Albert Schuman is a character who serves as an investigation chief for Qi, an elite security unit belonging to New Tesla's Dimensional Administration Bureau. He is an acquaintance with a shared past involving the main character, Kyoma Mabuchi, and often appears in the role of an ally who nonetheless operates from within the system that Kyoma distrusts. His name suggests a German background.

In terms of personality, Albert is consistently depicted with a friendly and composed demeanor, often wearing a smile on his face. However, this outward amicability masks a more calculating and pragmatic nature. Kyoma, in particular, finds him irritating and does not like him, sensing the duplicity beneath the surface. Albert can display a ruthless side, prioritizing the mission and institutional order over individual sentiments, such as when he coldly dismisses the emotional turmoil of others affected by coil-related tragedies. Despite this friction, he holds a genuine interest in Kyoma and persistently attempts to recruit him into his unit.

Albert's primary motivation stems from his past as a soldier. He is a survivor of the Easter Island incident, a catastrophic event that decimated a special forces unit known as Grendel and resulted in the death of Kyoma's lover. Within Grendel, Albert was one of only five members to be given the title of "beast," his specific moniker being "Wildcat". As the last surviving member of this elite group besides Kyoma, he carries the weight of their lost comrades. This history explains his complex position: he works for New Tesla, the very corporation that manages the coils responsible for the tragedy, a decision that fuels his personal hostility and creates a point of contention between him and Kyoma. His actions are often aimed at pursuing those who misuse coil technology, such as the individual known as Loser, and preventing further disasters.

Within the story, Albert acts as a point of contact and a source of support for Kyoma, albeit one that operates from the shadows of the establishment. He entrusts Kyoma with cases and provides tactical assistance when their paths cross, such as during the investigation on Yasogami Island where he used his sharpshooting skills to eliminate automated defenses. He is a high-ranking official with access to advanced technology, and unlike the outdated Kyoma, he is an early adopter of modern conveniences, even owning a brand new sports car. His relationship with Kyoma is the most significant, defined by a deep history as brothers-in-arms that has soured into a tense and wary alliance due to their conflicting choices following the Easter Island incident. He also has a known connection to a character named Marie.

Albert's development is primarily revealed through flashbacks that contrast his current professional position with his past as a frontline soldier. His abilities are formidable, befitting his elite status. He is a master of long-range weaponry and claims to be an expert in using any type of polearm or long firearm. He is exceptionally agile and durable, able to dodge attacks with ease and survive falls from great heights without injury. He is also a highly skilled sniper, capable of using a plasma rifle that utilizes coils as warheads to destroy multiple targets almost simultaneously.
