OVA
Description
Fuma Mono is a central figure in the apocalyptic conflict, initially appearing as an ordinary and kind-hearted high school student living in Tokyo. He is the son of the priest of the Togakushi Shrine and the protective older brother of Kotori Monou. His life becomes intertwined with destiny through his childhood friendship with Kamui Shiro, the series' protagonist.

Fuma is established as a dutiful son, a talented athlete, and a person of few words who is well-liked and respected by his peers. His quiet and stoic nature hides a deep sense of responsibility and affection for those close to him, particularly his sister and Kamui. He sees himself as a protector, having once promised to look after Kamui.

This gentle personality is violently subsumed when Kamui makes a fateful choice to become a Dragon of Heaven, a champion determined to save humanity. As Kamui's sworn "twin star," Fuma is automatically forced into the opposing role. He transforms into the Kamui of the Dragons of Earth, a cold and remorseless alter-ego dedicated to destroying humanity in order to cleanse and preserve the planet. This new persona is a primary antagonist, and his first act as a villain is the brutal murder of his sister, Kotori, an act that cements his tragic fall and his new identity.

In his role as a Dragon of Earth, Fuma's motivations are not driven by simple malice. He is compelled to enact the Earth's will for renewal through destruction. His most notable and enigmatic ability is the power to perceive the innermost, heartfelt wishes of others. He then moves to grant these wishes, though the results are often twisted and lead to death or tragedy, as he believes he is simply manifesting what people truly desire. He is a highly formidable combatant, possessing telekinesis, superhuman speed and agility, and wields a sacred sword, the Shinken, which mirrors Kamui's own weapon. He is considered one of the most powerful beings in the conflict.

His key relationships are fundamentally defined by his transformation. His bond with Kamui Shiro, once a close friendship, is inverted into a deadly and personal rivalry. He becomes Kamui's greatest enemy, a dark mirror whose existence is tied to his own. His relationship with his sister, Kotori, is severed in the most violent way possible, his love for her became a tool of his awakening as a villain. He also interacts with his fellow Dragons of Earth, though he often remains an enigmatic and feared figure among them, seemingly serving a purpose beyond their own.

Within the X OAV, Fuma's character arc follows this tragic trajectory. He begins as Kamui's caring friend and is gradually consumed by his destiny. The story shows his confusion and unease as his fate closes in on him before his complete transformation into the merciless Dark Kamui. He is presented as a tragic figure, a gentle soul whose predetermined role forces him to become a heartless destroyer, fully aware of the pain he inflicts but incapable of resisting his nature.
