Description
Little Neese, whose full name is Neese, is the daughter of the magician Slayn and the priestess Leylia, and the granddaughter of the elder Neese, a priestess of Marfa who was one of the Six Heroes. She is named after her grandmother, and like her mother and grandmother, she serves as a priestess of Marfa. From her mother's bloodline, she inherited the incarnation of Naneel, the high priestess of the dark god Kardis. This makes her the Doorway, one of three keys required to resurrect Kardis.
Little Neese is a young girl who carries a heavy burden. She is acutely aware that Naneel dwells within her, and this knowledge has caused her to detach herself emotionally from the world around her. She maintains a guarded, reserved demeanor, rarely showing her true feelings. Beneath this emotional shell, however, she possesses quiet courage and a gentle heart. Her primary motivation is to endure her fate and resist the destiny imposed upon her by Naneel's presence, hoping to live a life free from the dark god's influence.
In the story of Chronicles of the Heroic Knight, Little Neese plays a central role in the War of the Destroyer's Resurrection. The wizard Wagnard abducts her in order to use her as a vessel to draw forth Naneel and resurrect Kardis. Her rescue becomes the driving mission for the young warrior Spark and his companions, who set out for Marmo to save her. Throughout the series, she gradually begins to open up, especially as she develops a romantic relationship with Spark, who helps lower the emotional barriers she had built around herself. In the climax, Wagnard attempts to complete the resurrection of Kardis by drawing Naneel's essence from her, and Little Neese is ultimately freed from the entity's influence.
Her key relationships include her parents Slayn and Leylia, who care for her deeply, and the wizard Aldonova, a pupil of her father who is devoted to her. Her most significant relationship is with Spark, a young warrior from Flaim. At first, she is distant, but as he shows her kindness and determination, she gradually falls in love with him, and their bond becomes a crucial source of strength for both of them. Her friends, including Spark, Garrack, Ryna, and others, work together to rescue her from Wagnard.
As a priestess of Marfa, Little Neese possesses the ability to perform divine magic associated with the goddess of life and healing. Her most notable trait, however, is not her combat ability but her spiritual significance as the vessel for Naneel. Her role in the story is defined by this inherited destiny and her struggle to overcome it. She is freed from Naneel's presence when Wagnard draws out the entity's essence in an attempt to resurrect Kardis, allowing her to at last live for herself.
