Description
Luca Angeloni is a supporting character from the anime Macross Frontier: The False Songstress, the first film adaptation of the Macross Frontier television series. He is a second-year student in the spaceflight department of Mihoshi Academy and a variable fighter pilot for Skull Squadron within the private military company S.M.S. Despite his youth, Luca is the heir to the LAI Corporation, a large technical research institute, and serves as a special adviser in its research and development division, giving him access to advanced technology and prototypes. He is a genius with computers and military electronic equipment, and he piloted a green RVF-25 Messiah reconnaissance variable fighter, which he operated alongside three QF-4000 Ghost drones he named Simon, John, and Peter. His primary role in the story is to provide electronic warfare support and information analysis during combat operations. Luca is thoughtful, mature, and gentle, but he often becomes flustered when his older classmates and mentors, Alto Saotome and Mikhail Blanc, tease him. He is deeply devoted to his classmate Nanase Matsuura, for whom he harbors a romantic crush, and his motivation to protect her drives many of his actions. In the film, Luca is manipulated by Leon Mishima, who threatens his sister, forcing him to cooperate in the arrest of Sheryl Nome; he later survives an assassination attempt and aids the S.M.S. team in hacking the Alcatraz prison security system to rescue Sheryl. His character develops from a timid and awkward student into a more decisive and capable pilot, ultimately joining the New UN Spacy to safeguard Nanase after she is injured. Notably, Luca is responsible for contributing the LAI corporation’s technology to the military and later proposes using Ranka Lee’s song as a weapon against the Vajra.
