Description
Daiki Sendo is a character from the LBX anime series, known as a highly skilled and ambitious LBX player. He is a tall teenager, initially fifteen years old, with distinctive purple spiky hair and purple eyes. His most recognizable visual trait is that he is almost always seen carrying a deck of tarot cards, which he uses to make decisions and attempt to predict the future of his battles.
Sendo first appears as the leader of a high school gang in Mysore. His personality is defined by a deep-seated arrogance and selfishness. He is highly confident in his own abilities to the point of cockiness, believing himself to be the strongest of all LBX players. This self-centered nature means he primarily cares about his own needs and goals, often planning to ruin others with little regard for their feelings. His strategic mind is apparent in his flashy battle style, which relies heavily on illusions and misdirection, earning him the nickname Magician in the Box. However, this reliance on a single approach is a notable weakness; when his strategy of using constant illusions fails, he tends to lose his focus and his composure, leading to his defeat.
Sendo's primary motivation is to prove his superiority and achieve victory for his own glory. His role in the story begins as a formidable rival to the protagonist. He is a semi-finalist in the 2050 Artemis tournament and a finalist in the 2051 tournament. He starts as an antagonist, challenging the main characters to demonstrate his power, but later becomes a more complex figure, aligning with the organization NICS. His path is marked by a constant drive to fight and defeat the strongest opponents, including Ban Yamano.
His key relationships are defined by rivalry. He has a particularly complex connection with Gouda, which involves constant conflicts and an unusual, sometimes cooperative, dynamic. He later upgrades to Joker MK2, which has enhanced speed and power, before finally piloting Nightmare, a wizard-like LBX equipped with a staff-like weapon called Nightmare's Soul. Nightmare is faster and more powerful than his previous machines. While under the control of Detector, he pilots a white and green recolor of Nightmare called Nightmare Fear, which wields the Deep Fear weapon.
