Description
Becky Farrah, known professionally as Becky the Nose, operates as a professional informer and information broker in the Chicago underworld. She holds the distinction of being the youngest "nose" in the city, a title that reflects her skill in gathering and selling intelligence to a varied clientele that includes bounty hunters, law enforcement personnel, journalists, and other shady concerns.

Becky stands 1.67 meters tall, or approximately five feet and six inches, and weighs around 57 kilograms. She has blue-green eyes and dark red hair, which she typically wears in a ponytail. One of her most consistent physical traits is her large glasses, which correct her nearsightedness. Her usual attire is business casual, a choice that helps her project an air of professionalism while remaining unremarkable during surveillance work. She drives a BMW equipped with various surveillance devices, including video cameras, binoculars, shotgun microphones, and a police scanner.

Her background reveals how she became entangled with the series' main protagonists. While investigating a pair of wanted criminals known as Bonnie and Clyde, Becky was spotted and shot in the leg. Her captors then forced her to lay a trap for Rally Vincent, a bounty hunter and regular client. Rally and her partner Minnie-May Hopkins detected that something was wrong and rescued Becky after a brutal fight. Following this incident, a close friendship developed between Becky and the two bounty hunters, and she became a regular part of many of their operations.

Personality-wise, Becky is defined by a powerful mercenary drive. She is endlessly focused on money, bills everything meticulously, and demands to be well-compensated for all her services. She once famously billed for a pair of broken glasses after being caught in a firefight during a job. Despite this mercenary nature, her friendship with Rally and May is genuine. While their inability to pay her full rates often annoys her, she knows the information she provides them will be used ethically and, more importantly, that they will not hesitate to come to her aid when she is in serious trouble. This loyalty manifests in small ways, such as Becky being the one to remember normal social obligations like throwing birthday parties for her friends, which makes her feel over the hill despite being in her late twenties compared to their improbable youth. Her love of money is balanced by a love of luxury goods, and she is always happy to acquire fur coats, high-end cars, and expensive champagne. Her one notable exception to her profit-first rule is her fandom for the stage magician Mister Smart, for whom she once gave Rally a substantial rebate on crucial information to help save his life.

In her role within the story, Becky serves as the primary source of information for Rally and May. Her abilities as an informant are extensive. She is very good at her job, maintaining awareness of a remarkable amount of activity among Chicago's underworld through her connections. She often acts on tips by covertly filming or recording illegal events to sell the tapes. Her technical skills include being a capable computer hacker, though her abilities are portrayed realistically rather than cinematically; she can access low-security databases, such as city floor plans and building permits, after lengthy cracking and social-engineering work. She is also a fluent lip reader. While she has no special action skills, she does know basic firearms handling and is a decent driver, though her stealth skills are merely adequate and she is often spotted by her subjects. For self-defense, she carries an unregistered Smith & Wesson Bodyguard compact revolver.

Becky's development throughout the series is tied to her growing integration with Rally and May's dangerous world. She was captured again by an adversary named Gray's crew but was rescued by Minnie-May. In return, she accompanied Minnie-May to Los Angeles to help find her lover. During the duel with the antagonist Iron Goldie, Becky came to the rescue and helped break Rally's conditioning, though Goldie incapacitated her with a single kick. Becky was arrested afterward because her revolver was unregistered but was quickly released. She also helped in the final showdown against Goldie and was later accidentally caught in a car chase during the recovery of a character named Misty Brown. Through these events, she remains the pragmatist of the group, thinking about normal things while her friends rush into danger, all while still sending them invoices for her invaluable services.
