OVA
Description
Natasha Radinov, also known by the alias Bloody Pierce, is a cold-blooded assassin and the primary antagonist of the Gunsmith Cats OVA. Born in 1966 in Ukraine, she originally served as an agent for the K.G.B. and Spetsnaz. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, she transitioned into a freelance mercenary, contracting her deadly skills to the highest bidder. Her services are typically paid in heroin, which she later sells in Russia, though she personally refrains from using the drug. Radinov is hired by corrupt Illinois assemblyman Edward Haints to eliminate bounty hunters Rally Vincent and May Hopkins after they interfere with his gun-running operation. She is described by Detective Roy Coleman as a terminator, an evaluation that proves accurate given her extensive training and equipment. She is proficient with nearly every hand weapon but prefers silent tools, especially a Welrod suppressed pistol and a spring-loaded shooting knife originally designed for Spetsnaz use. Her signature long coat is lined with ballistic nylon and Kevlar, making it bulletproof, and its interior holds a vast arsenal of handguns, submachine guns, knives, and even a small axe. Radinov initially approaches her assignment with professional calm, viewing the Gunsmith Cats as a worthy challenge and welcoming the opportunity to test her skills. However, after failing to kill Rally due to an intervention by Bill Collins and later being injured in a high-speed chase—specifically losing a piece of her ear to Rally's bullet—she takes the setback as a matter of pride. This marks the first time she has ever been hurt in combat, and the injury transforms her mission from a simple contract into a deeply personal vendetta. Her pursuit becomes relentless, pushing both Rally and May to their limits. In the story's climax, her car is sent exploding into the Chicago River after May detonates a bomb, but Radinov barely escapes with her life. The character's arc shows a shift from detached professionalism to obsessive revenge, highlighting her immense skill, resourcefulness, and dangerous pride. Her notable abilities include expert marksmanship, silent and efficient killing techniques, driving prowess, and the capacity to command an intimidating personal arsenal. Within the broader narrative, she serves as a formidable foil to the Gunsmith Cats, testing their abilities and forcing them to operate at their peak.
