Description
Dr. Steve Toros, often called "Doc" by his teammates, is the middle-aged owner, manager, and financial backer of the Blitz Team, as well as a respected scientist and inventor. As the father of pilots Leena and Leon Toros, he holds a central position within the group, operating from his high-tech command ship known as the Hover Cargo, which serves as the team's mobile base.

In terms of personality, Dr. Toros is a quintessential eccentric genius. While he possesses a sharp, analytical mind capable of deciphering an enemy's battle strategy with remarkable speed, his behavior is often whimsical and childish. He is known for his unusual habit of standing on his head to think more clearly, for talking to his extensive collection of Zoid model kits, and for a deep-seated insecurity about not knowing how to swim. His most defining quirk is an impulsive and almost compulsive shopping habit; he is constantly purchasing new components and weaponry based on superficial reasons, such as an item being "shiny" or "looking cool," often diverting team funds to do so. Despite this frivolity, he is a positive-minded individual who cares deeply for his team's success and well-being, though he can become dramatically defensive if anyone criticizes his beloved Hover Cargo.

His primary motivation stems from a passion for Zoid engineering and a desire to see his team succeed using his creations. He is responsible for designing the innovative Changing Armor System, or CAS, which allows the team's central Zoid, the Liger Zero, to swap its armor and equipment to adapt to different combat situations. He also acquired the rare white Liger Zero itself, a Zoid known for its fickle and stubborn personality. Functionally, he oversees all battle preparations, financial matters, and strategic planning, often offering critical advice from the Hover Cargo to help secure victories.

One of the most significant aspects of his background is a longstanding and bitter rivalry with a fellow scientist, Dr. Laon. The two were once close friends, along with a third man named Oscar. Their friendship shattered when both Steve and Laon fell in love with the same woman. In a complicated misunderstanding involving a love letter written on Steve's behalf, Laon came to believe that Steve had betrayed him to win the woman's affection, leading to Steve marrying her. This event created a permanent rift, with Laon harboring a deep grudge against Steve, though he notably bears no ill will towards Steve's daughter, Leena, who resembles her mother. Oscar remains a neutral party and a steadfast friend to Steve.

Within the Blitz Team, his key relationships are familial and paternal. He is a caring, if occasionally forgetful, father to Leena, often worrying about her safety in dangerous battles. His relationship with his son, Leon, is more complicated, as he respects Leon's decisions even after the young pilot leaves the team. He acts as a mentor and mechanic to the protagonist, Bit Cloud, helping him unlock the Liger Zero's potential while often forgetting to pay him. He took in the young pilot Jamie Hemeros after Jamie's father, Oscar, was injured, demonstrating his loyalty. His dynamic with the mercenary pilot Brad Hunter is generally amicable.

While Dr. Toros does not pilot a fighting Zoid himself, his notable abilities lie entirely in his scientific and strategic genius. His engineering prowess led to the creation of the advanced CAS units, a significant technological achievement. His keen observational skills allow him to predict opponent movements and formulate winning strategies. Throughout the series, he sees little personal development in terms of his personality, remaining consistently eccentric, but he demonstrates unwavering support for his team as they grow and face increasingly powerful rivals, solidifying his role as the clever, quirky, and dependable founder of the Blitz Team.
