Daiki Nakamura
Description
Daiki Nakamura was a Japanese voice actor born in Tokyo on December 25, 1962. He began his entertainment career after high school, initially training at a talent agency's workshop before joining a theater company to pursue stage acting. His voice acting debut came in 1983 with a minor role in the animated film Final Yamato. He was active in the industry for over four decades until 2024 and was affiliated with the talent management firm 81 Produce for a significant portion of his later career.
Nakamura's early breakthrough role came in 1988 as Seiji Date, the Samurai Trooper known as Kongo no Seiji, in the popular anime series Ronin Warriors (also known as Yoroiden Samurai Troopers). The role brought him wider recognition, and during the series' run, he formed the voice actor unit NG5 with his four co-stars. This part led to him reprising the character in subsequent OVA installments such as Ronin Warriors: Gaiden and Ronin Warriors: Message.
Throughout his long career, Nakamura was known for a wide range of roles, from heroic leads to comedic characters and villains. In the 1990s, he provided voices for several main characters in the Brave series of mecha anime, including Sky Max in The Brave Fighter of Legend Da-Garn and the titular combining robot in The Brave Express Might Gaine. He also voiced Liu Bei Xuande in the historical epic Yokoyama Mitsuteru Sangokushi. In the late 1990s, he took on the role of the gentle robot Gotaibyo Kintaros, known as Kintarō, in the popular tokusatsu series B-Robo Kabutack.
In the 2000s, Nakamura continued to build an extensive list of credits in major franchises. He was the voice of Inoichi Yamanaka, father of Ino, in the long-running series Naruto and its sequel Naruto: Shippuden. He played Dayakka Littner, the level-headed chief of Littner Village and captain of the Dai-Gurren, in the critically acclaimed series Gurren Lagann and its compilation films. He also voiced Welfin in the 2011 adaptation of Hunter × Hunter and took over the role of the titular grandfather in the short-form anime Dangerous Jii-san Ja. Other notable roles from the user's provided list include Toad in Hello Kitty no Oyayubi Hime, Bon in Onimaru, Kanzaki and Silver in the Aoyama Gōshō Tanpen-shū, and the Demon Beast in the Demon Beast Invasion OVA series. In video games, he was well-known as the long-time voice of the swordsman Haohmaru in the Samurai Shodown franchise.
In addition to anime, Nakamura was active in dubbing foreign films and television series, and he also worked as an instructor at voice actor training schools, aiming to mentor newcomers to the industry. He remained with 81 Produce until March 2024, when the agency terminated his contract following reports of power harassment, sexual harassment, and financial issues at a private school for aspiring voice actors that he had founded and operated.
