TV-Series
Description
Dayakka Littner is first introduced as the chief of Littner Village, a position that establishes him as a figure of authority and responsibility from the very beginning. He is a calm and level-headed individual, often acting as a grounding presence among the more hot-blooded and impulsive members of the team. Despite his serious demeanor when the situation calls for it, he possesses a warm and welcoming nature, readily offering shelter and aid to travelers like Kamina and Simon when they arrive at his village with his friend Yoko. His personality is defined by a practical and grounded sensibility, yet he fully shares the optimistic and determined spirit that characterizes the human resistance against the Beastmen.

His role within the story is multifaceted and evolves significantly over time. Initially serving as the protective leader of his home village, he is later inspired by the early victories of Team Gurren to join the fight directly, commandeering his own Gunmen which he names the Dayakkaiser. Demonstrating his selflessness and strategic acumen, he eventually steps back from the role of a frontline pilot. After the capture of the enemy battleship Dai-Gunzan, Dayakka is appointed as the captain of the newly renamed Dai-Gurren, taking charge of the ship from the bridge and ensuring the safety and coordination of the entire team. Following the defeat of the Spiral King and the establishment of Kamina City, he transitions into a peacetime role, becoming the city's Minister of Food Affairs, a position that suits his practical and dependable nature. However, when the threat of the Anti-Spirals emerges, he does not hesitate to leave his post, prioritizing the safety of his family and once again taking command of the Super Galaxy Dai-Gurren to lead the final battle.

A key part of Dayakka's character is his deep devotion to his family. He marries Kiyoh Bachika, one of Kittan's sisters, and the birth of his daughter, Anne, becomes his primary motivation. The arrival of Anne, who is revealed to be the one millionth human on Earth, inadvertently triggers the Anti-Spirals' Human Extermination System, placing his family at the center of the conflict. His love for his wife is both heartfelt and surprisingly whimsical, as demonstrated by the name he gives to a combination attack during the final battle: My-Wife-Is-The-Best-In-The-Universe-Swing. This act shows that his grounded personality does not preclude him from sharing in the larger-than-life, emotional expressions of his comrades. His relationship with Yoko is one of long-standing friendship and mutual respect, having been a leader in her home village. He also shares a close bond with Kittan, as they both acquired their Gunmen around the same time and became trusted allies.

In terms of abilities, Dayakka is a competent fighter and a capable Gunmen pilot. His original machine, the Dayakkaiser, is a blue, bombardment-type Gunmen featuring a powerful cannon on top of its head, which he used to great effect in several engagements, notably saving Team Gurren from the Dai-Gunzan. Even after he ceases to be its pilot, the Dayakkaiser remains in service, piloted first by his wife Kiyoh and later by Yoko, who upgrades it to a space-faring form equipped with rocket launchers and an even more powerful cannon. However, his greatest contribution is not through direct combat prowess but through his reliable leadership, strategic mind, and unwavering support for his team. He is a survivor, notably being one of the few original Gunmen pilots to live through the entire series and witness the final victory. His personal weapon of choice includes an assault rifle, showing his proficiency in conventional combat as well. Throughout his journey, he demonstrates the ability to harness Spiral Power, especially when piloting his Gunmen, allowing him to fight on ever-increasing scales from the Earth's surface to the depths of space.
