Description
April Bikirk is the de facto leader and captain of the all-female pirate crew aboard the advanced starship Sol Bianca. As one of the original discoverers of the ship alongside her crewmate Feb, April holds a unique bond with the vessel and carries the control pistol that designates her as its owner and captain in the series Sol Bianca: The Legacy. Her given name fits the crew's naming theme, as each member is named after a month of the year.
April is a skilled pilot and a crack shot with a pistol, often taking on the primary fighting role during the crew's missions. Her preferred weapons include a laser whip or knife in addition to her sidearm, and she wears a distinctive red battle armor. She frequently acts as the jack-of-all-trades leader, managing the ship's operations and making critical decisions for the group. Her personality is defined by a headstrong and honorable nature, often leading her to fight on behalf of others in need rather than solely for personal gain. Despite her thoughtful approach to her actions, she can become as impulsive as her more hotheaded crewmate Janny when placed in a corner. In many ways, she fills the role of a stereotypical male space hero, taking charge of dangerous situations and driving the action forward.
Within the crew dynamic, April often serves as the mother figure and the stabilizing force, particularly when Feb, the older and more experienced member, is too intoxicated to lead. She is deeply protective of everyone aboard the Sol Bianca, treating her crew as an extended family. This sense of family is tested when a fight leads to Feb leaving the ship, an event that leaves April reeling and questioning the value of her own life. She eventually finds perspective through a male pirate who is her lover, who helps restore her confidence and sense of purpose. Her motivations are closely tied to the mysteries of Earth, a lost homeworld revered throughout the galaxy. The series begins with her attempting to retrieve a stolen personal artifact, an ancient flintlock pistol from Earth, which holds clues to the planet's true nature and the secret behind the Sol Bianca itself. Her role in the story is central, as her quest for this artifact and her leadership of the crew drive much of the plot, including confrontations with the Earthian military forces and the villainous Gunter.
