Description
Shiki Granbell, a human orphan raised by robots on the mechanized world of Granbell, was discovered as an infant by the robotic Demon King Ziggy, his adoptive grandfather. Growing up maintaining the planet’s abandoned theme park, he remained oblivious to the robots’ deteriorating systems, fostering a sheltered existence marked by social clumsiness and an intense longing for connection. His abrupt, boundary-pushing attempts at friendship contrast with the solitude that defined his youth. When the robots stage a fabricated rebellion to force his departure before their energy reserves expire, he escapes with visitors Rebecca Bluegarden and her companion Happy, launching his voyage across the cosmos.

Shiki wields the Ether Gear *Satan Gravity*, granting mastery over gravitational forces to levitate, hurl projectiles, or warp terrain. Training hones this ability into planet-level control. During a clash on Nero 66, he loses his left eye, later replaced by a mechanical prosthetic with X-ray vision that unsettles his crew. His loyalty to allies and refusal to harm innocents define his moral code, though he battles paralyzing entomophobia. Initially naïve and socially impulsive, he matures into a tactical leader while retaining his earnest zeal for forging bonds. Crew relationships mirror kinship—Rebecca, his first human friend, evolves into a trusted partner, their rapport deepening into mutual dependence and eventual romance, foreshadowing a shared future with a daughter.

Key trials pit him against antagonists like Drakken Joe and Shura, testing his idealism and pushing him to adopt ruthless measures against unrepentant foes. A three-year hiatus post-Aoi War sharpens his combat prowess, positioning him among the galaxy’s elite. Inheriting Ziggy’s title of Demon King, he redefines it through protective acts, diverging from his predecessor’s tyranny. A climactic revelation unveils him as Earth’s sole survivor; the planet itself transformed into the entity Mother to escape annihilation. In the final arc, he navigates time travel and multiverse mechanics to neutralize universal threats like the Chronophage, ultimately restoring Earth in Universe Zero—a reality where fallen allies live peacefully and societal strife dissolves.

His appearance shifts from a scruffy, wide-eyed adolescent to a battle-hardened adult with cropped spiky hair, scarred bandages, and mission-specific attire. Post-timeskip designs emphasize rugged practicality, mirroring his evolution from wanderer to commander.
