TV Special
Description
Megumi Hisakawa serves as the teacher and advisor for the Alien Party at Elementary School No. 9. She is the adult supervisor responsible for the three sixth-grade girls—Yuri Otani, Kumi Kawamura, and Kasumi Tomine—who are tasked with capturing aliens that appear on campus. Outwardly, she presents a calm, quiet, and supportive demeanor, often acting as a gentle and reassuring presence for the young members of the team. Her personality appears patient and composed, which helps her maintain order and offer guidance to the often reluctant and frightened Yuri.
However, this tranquil exterior conceals a much more complex and morally ambiguous core. It is eventually revealed that Megumi is not merely a passive observer but is actively behind many of the alien attacks the girls are sent to fight. She intentionally releases aliens onto the school grounds as training exercises for the Alien Party. Her true motivation is not the protection of the school, but the cultivation of suitable human hosts for symbiotic fusion with the Borgs, the alien creatures the girls wear on their heads. Megumi herself has already undergone this process, having fully fused with her own Borg. She operates under the larger agenda of the Drill Clan, the group of aliens to which her Borg belongs, which seeks to use humans as ideal symbiotic partners. Her role in the story is therefore that of a facilitator and a manipulator, pushing the girls, particularly Yuri, through increasingly dangerous situations to force their psychological and symbiotic development.
Her key relationships are defined by this dual role. To the girls, she is initially their trusted teacher, but she later becomes a source of hidden threat and manipulation. She is shown to be subordinate to the school's headmistress, Ms. Okada, who is also a Borg-fused human and who rebukes Megumi when one of her training exercises goes disastrously wrong, resulting in the deaths of the girls' Borgs. As the series progresses, Megumi's development is less about personal change and more about the revelation of her true nature and purpose. She remains committed to the Drill Clan's mission, even as the situation spirals beyond her control with the arrival of rival alien factions like the Sunflower Clan.
Notable abilities stem from her complete fusion with her Borg. Unlike the students, who wear their Borgs like helmets, Megumi has achieved a permanent and total symbiosis, granting her enhanced capabilities and a deeper connection to the alien agenda. This fusion gives her significant control over the other Borgs and allows her to orchestrate events from behind the scenes with a level of knowledge and power the students lack.
