Description
Naomi Nakashima is a student from Kisaragi Academy Senior High, attending classroom 2-9. Her family consists of her mother, Natsumi Nakashima, and her late father, Naoyuki Nakashima, who passed away before the events of the story. She is a childhood friend of Satoshi Mochida, a relationship that has grown somewhat tense and argumentative since their junior high years, as they often butt heads. Her closest friend and confidante is Seiko Shinohara, with whom she shares a deep, protective bond.

Naomi is generally a bright, cheerful, and energetic teenage girl who possesses a stubborn streak and a tomboyish nature. She tends to want to take charge of situations, which can lead to conflict with others who are equally strong-willed, particularly Satoshi. However, beneath her outgoing exterior, she is not always fully aware of her own emotions and has a tendency to bottle up negative feelings. Under stress, fear, or extreme upset, she can become prone to acting childishly, lashing out at those around her, throwing tantrums, or whining. This emotional volatility is a core flaw, but it is rooted in a genuine sense of loyalty and protectiveness toward her friends.

Her primary motivation throughout the events of Corpse Party: Tortured Souls is survival, both for herself and for her loved ones. After being transported with her classmates to the cursed and dilapidated Heavenly Host Elementary School following the performance of the Sachiko Ever After charm, her immediate goal is to find an exit and reunite with her friends. Her journey is heavily defined by her relationship with Seiko. Early on, the two reunite and search together, but a moment of panic and fear leads Naomi to angrily drive Seiko away after she briefly leaves to retrieve a lost paper charm. This decision fills Naomi with immediate remorse, and a significant part of her role becomes searching for Seiko to apologize, only to discover her friend hanged in a bathroom stall. This event is a devastating turning point that haunts her for the remainder of the story.

In the overarching narrative, Naomi is one of the main protagonists. She is reunited with Satoshi and Ayumi Shinozaki, and together they work to uncover the truth behind the school's curse and find a way to escape. Her role is deeply tied to the emotional core of the group, often grappling with the trauma of what she has witnessed. A crucial moment in her development occurs when she discovers a video in the school basement that reveals she was possessed by a vengeful spirit and was the one who killed Seiko. This revelation causes her to break down completely. Her growth is evident when Seiko's spirit appears to comfort her, allowing Naomi to find a measure of peace and forgiveness, enabling her to move forward. By the story's end, she and Ayumi successfully perform the ritual to return to Kisaragi Academy, but the experience leaves her deeply traumatized. She returns to a world that does not believe her, and she secludes herself in her room, unable to process the loss of her friends and the horrors she endured.

Notable abilities are not supernatural or combat-oriented, but she demonstrates resilience, a strong will to survive, and a fierce, albeit flawed, loyalty to her friends. Her ability to eventually confront the darkest truth of her actions and accept comfort from Seiko's spirit shows a capacity for emotional recovery that is central to her character arc.
