Description
Akako Koizumi is a 17-year-old student at Ekoda High School, where she is a classmate of Kaito Kuroba and Aoko Nakamori. Her true identity is that of a powerful witch who practices red or black magic, and she lives alone in a secluded Western-style mansion with a strange, demonic-looking servant. Her name, Akako, means red child, which contrasts with the blue meaning of her classmate Aoko’s name. Akako is notably vain and haughty, possessing deep pride in her own beauty and magical abilities. She delights in being the center of attention and has a distinctive, theatrical “ohohoho” laugh. Her core belief is that every man in the world should be under her spell, and she uses her magical charms to ensnare all who cross her path. Beneath this arrogant exterior, she has a softer side and, despite claiming that human life means little to her, she is incapable of going through with murder when faced with the reality of it. Her primary frustration and fascination is Kaito Kuroba, the sole person immune to her charms. Using her crystal ball, she learns that the only person who can resist her magic is Kaitou Kid, leading her to correctly deduce that Kaito is the phantom thief. Initially, she aims to capture his heart through magical means, but over time her obsession evolves into a more genuine, often unacknowledged affection for him. She serves as a unique ally and occasional antagonist, knowing his secret identity and choosing not to reveal it. She often provides cryptic warnings about future dangers through divination and has directly intervened to protect him, such as disguising herself as the phantom thief to throw off suspicion. She views Aoko Nakamori as a rival for Kaito’s affections and frequently belittles her, though she is sometimes caught off guard by Aoko’s genuinely friendly demeanor. She also summons a demon named Lucifer, whom she treats with little respect, and has a servant who adores her despite her insults. Akako possesses a wide array of magical abilities, including divination with a crystal ball, a magical mirror that answers questions, flight on a broomstick, creating voodoo dolls, casting love spells, summoning demons, and in some adaptations, telekinesis and pyrokinesis. A significant weakness is that if she cries, she will lose her powers.
