Description
Cutemon is a character from the Digimon Fusion anime, recognized as a small and undeniably cute Digimon with a rabbit-like appearance. Its fur is entirely pink, and it typically wears a pair of headphones, a pink scarf, and a pair of slippers. Despite its small stature, Cutemon is known to possess surprising physical strength, sometimes able to lift heavy objects. In the Japanese version of the series, Cutemon has a verbal tic of adding the sound kyu to the end of its sentences.
Cutemon's background is defined by tragedy and displacement. It originally lived peacefully in a village with its parents until the Bagra Army attacked their home. Although Cutemon managed to escape the initial assault, it was subsequently captured by a trio of Goblimon bandits. The Digimon Dorulumon saved Cutemon from the bandits, and after hearing the story of the attack and how Cutemon's parents had been captured by the enemy, Dorulumon agreed to let the young Digimon travel with him as a protector.
At the start of the series, Cutemon is introduced when the human character Angie Hinomoto meets it. Cutemon acts as a source of comfort, attempting to cheer Angie up during a tense situation. It officially joins the main group of heroes, the Fusion Fighters, along with Dorulumon after explaining its story to them. Cutemon is considered to be Angie Hinomoto's partner Digimon. Its primary motivation throughout a significant portion of the story is to find and rescue its missing parents. This drive is a key part of its character arc, culminating in the Sweets Zone where the team locates its parents being used as power sources for a weapon. Following their rescue, Cutemon makes the difficult but mature decision to continue traveling with the Fusion Fighters, tearfully saying goodbye to its parents to do so.
Throughout the story, Cutemon demonstrates notable personal growth. It begins as a vulnerable character in need of protection but develops into a more confident and capable member of the team. This courage is evident when it becomes the target of a Digimon Hunter named Airu Suzaki. Cutemon's life is put in danger, but its ally Ewan Amano protects it. Later, when the team's leader Mikey is pulled into another dimension, Cutemon is the sole Digimon able to escape and successfully deliver Mikey's Fusion Loader to a companion, an act of bravery that proves essential to the team's success. In a later story arc, Cutemon, alongside its partner Angie, continues to fight against a new threat, even being one of the Digimon absorbed by the powerful enemy Quartzmon.
Cutemon's notable abilities are almost entirely supportive in nature, making it a vital asset to the Fusion Fighters. Its primary powers are various healing techniques that work on both Humans and Digimon. These include attacks such as Healing Glow, which heals wounds, and more powerful versions like Yokunaol, which greatly heals wounds. While typically a healer, Cutemon is not defenseless; it can also utilize offensive attacks like the Supersonic Wave or Ultrasonic Song, which involves singing at a high frequency to cause damage to enemies around it.
