Earlier, partnered with Aki Hayakawa, she had shoulder-length hair and wore bandages over her eye plus a sling on her right arm; she later adopted the shorter hairstyle without the bandages or sling. Her personality balances surface levity with deep-seated trauma. She maintains calm during missions and employs unorthodox motivation, like promising Denji a French kiss for killing a devil. This carefree joking masks a profound pessimism, fueled by the deaths of five previous partners, convincing her devil hunters die young. She copes through heavy smoking and drinking, habits she encouraged Aki to adopt early on. Despite flaws, including drunkenly attempting sex with Denji before passing out, she exhibits genuine protectiveness toward her team, especially Aki, prioritizing others' safety over her own. Her history reveals she met Aki at a graveyard through veteran hunter Kishibe shortly after losing her fifth partner. Initially skeptical of his usefulness, she bonded with him after he retaliated against the girlfriend of a deceased partner who had slapped Himeno out of grief. During early patrols, she convinced Aki to start smoking, arguing their short lifespans negated long-term health concerns, a shared habit symbolizing their connection. Her abilities stem from her contract with the Ghost Devil. Sacrificing her right eye granted control over the devil's invisible, intangible right arm, manifesting by mirroring gestures with her own arm to restrain enemies or inflict significant damage, as against the Eternity Devil. In extreme situations, she could offer her entire body to fully summon the Ghost Devil, vastly amplifying its power. She also demonstrated proficient hand-to-hand combat, incapacitating Kobeni Higashiyama. Significant events include the Eternity Devil mission, where she motivated Denji with the promise of a kiss and saved him during the fight by reactivating his chainsaw cord using the Ghost Devil's arm. At the celebratory party, a drunken Himeno vomited into Denji's mouth while kissing him. She later took him to her apartment and proposed intercourse, but passed out beforehand. The next morning, they formed an alliance to pursue romantic interests—Himeno with Aki, Denji with Makima. Her death occurred confronting Akane Sawatari. To protect Aki from Sawatari's Snake Devil, she sacrificed her entire body to fully summon the Ghost Devil. Though initially effective, the Ghost Devil was destroyed, and Himeno perished.
