Description
Kudamon is a Rookie-level Holy Beast Digimon and the partner of Commander Richard Sampson, the leader of the Digital Accident Tactics Squad, DATS. The design takes inspiration from the mythological kuda-gitsune, a pipe fox spirit, and appears as a small, sleek creature with golden markings, reduced forelimbs, and a holy cartridge attached to the end of its tail. It continuously accumulates holy power within the earring on its left ear, energy that can eventually influence its evolution.

Kudamon exhibits a calm, collected, and analytical personality. It assesses situations with precision and navigates battle with a composed, almost smug superiority, always seeking to gain the advantage. This measured disposition makes it a reliable source of insight and strategy, both on and off the battlefield.

Its true motivations and role in the story become clearer as the narrative unfolds. Kudamon is initially presented as Commander Sampson’s trusted partner and advisor, helping to coordinate DATS missions and lending tactical support during emergencies. However, it is later revealed that Kudamon is actually the Mega-level Royal Knight Sleipmon, sent undercover by the supreme ruler of the Digital World, Yggdrasil, to observe humanity and report back. Over time, Kudamon develops genuine affection for its human comrades and cannot bring itself to obey Yggdrasil’s order to exterminate them. This internal conflict drives the character’s pivotal turn: it reveals its identity to the Royal Knight Gallantmon, fights to protect the DATS team, and ultimately sides with the humans against Yggdrasil’s destructive plan.

Key relationships center first on the bond with Richard Sampson. The pair share a quiet mutual respect and work seamlessly together, with Kudamon often serving as Sampson’s calm counterbalance. Its ties to the DATS members—Marcus, Thomas, Yoshino, and their partners—gradually deepen from professional alliance to genuine friendship, which becomes the emotional foundation for Kudamon’s defiance. Among the Royal Knights, Kudamon’s connection to Gallantmon is especially significant; their duel ends in a stalemate, after which Gallantmon recognizes Kudamon’s sincerity and releases it, leading to a brief but heartfelt reunion with Sampson.

Kudamon’s development moves from detached observer to loyal protector. The growing warmth toward its human allies forces it to reconcile its duty as a Royal Knight with its personal feelings, culminating in an open rejection of Yggdrasil’s will. After the crisis is resolved, Kudamon says goodbye and returns to the Digital World alongside the other Digimon, having fully embraced its chosen allegiance.

Notable abilities begin with the Rookie-level techniques called Zekkosho and Holy Blast. Zekkosho dazzles opponents with a brilliant radiance emitted from its earring, while Holy Blast fires a damaging holy beam when the pattern on its back glows. Through digivolution, Kudamon gains far greater forms: Reppamon, a swift Champion-level beast; Qilinmon, an Ultimate-level holy beast that can gallop across the sky; and Sleipmon, also known as Kentaurosmon, a towering Mega-level Royal Knight armed with a massive crossbow and the power to rival Yggdrasil’s other elite guardians. Each stage escalates both its combat capabilities and its symbolic role as a holy protector.
