Mikoto Yutaka is one of the three main characters serving as a Princess at Fujimori Academy, an all-boys boarding school. He is designated the Eastern Princess, a role he shares with his classmates Yuujirou Shihoudani and Tooru Kouno during their first year. Unlike the others, Mikoto is the most reluctant to participate in the cross-dressing tradition, primarily because he fears his girlfriend Megumi will discover his secret. Despite his constant complaining and whining about the duties assigned to the Princesses, he always ends up fulfilling them, whether because he is forced to or simply gives in. He is deeply self-conscious about being a Princess and becomes mortified whenever someone outside of school finds out about it.

Mikoto is the most animated and expressive of the three, often shouting and yelling at his fellow Princesses with strong emotion. He is tone deaf, having never sung before his time as a Princess. Beneath his stubborn and loud exterior, he is reliable and cares deeply about the people close to him, especially his girlfriend. Around Megumi, his personality shifts noticeably, becoming softer and more reserved, a change that greatly amuses Yuujirou and Tooru. Over time, he becomes more accustomed to his role as a Princess, to the point where he briefly fantasizes about wearing Gothic Lolita costumes alongside Megumi. Although he can come across as abrasive, he is ultimately a person with a good heart who grows into his responsibilities and forms strong bonds with those around him.
