Description
Gora is a teenage street inhabitant from the post-apocalyptic world of the anime. Hired by the protagonist Jin to serve as a guide, Gora comes from the harsh environment of Revenus, a setting that has cultivated a distinctly mercenary and opportunistic nature in him. His impoverished upbringing means his loyalties are often flexible, and he can be easily persuaded or bribed with promises of food or other items of value.

In terms of personality, Gora functions largely as a source of comic relief within the main narrative. He carries the demeanor of a rogue wanderer or a jesting sidekick, often providing levity to the group's otherwise serious and perilous journey. Despite his self-serving tendencies and questionable reliability, he maintains a hint of underlying humanity. This small spark of decency is ultimately what allows him to continue traveling with the core cast without too much complaint from them or from the audience.

Gora's role in the story is to accompany the fugitives Jin, Jou, and the young girl Sana after they cross paths. He joins their group and remains with them for much of the series as they are pursued by a relentless government military agency. While he does not pilot the power suits that define Jin and Jou's combat capabilities, he contributes as a local guide familiar with the terrain and the underbelly of their world. His primary narrative function is as a follower and observer to the main conflict, providing a street-level perspective and moments of levity during tense situations. The character’s reception has been noted for being divisive, with some viewers finding his presence and design to be an irritating addition that initially serves little purpose in the plot.

Key relationships define much of his involvement. He is initially hired by Jin, which establishes their connection, and he subsequently travels with Jin, Jou, and Sana as part of their fugitive group. His interactions are primarily with these three, and he often finds himself caught up in their wake as they move from one location to another, including taking refuge on a submarine commanded by a rogue former military captain. The character does not undergo significant development or change; he remains fairly consistent as a comic relief figure and a testament to the survivalist attitude fostered by his harsh background. He possesses no notable combat abilities or special powers, instead relying on his wits and street smarts to get by.
