Description
Chihaya Hiiragi is a high school student who works alongside her mother at the family restaurant, Angel Kiss. She has a youthful appearance that belies her physical capability, and she is noted to be somewhat sensitive about her short stature and childlike physique. Her personality is warm and friendly, but she also possesses a quick, action-first attitude, sometimes acting before she thinks.

Her life takes a turn when she rescues a small, injured, rabbit-like creature named Natsuki. This creature reveals himself to be an envoy from the parallel world of Evergreen, who has come to Earth to retrieve five stolen magical seeds. These seeds have the power to bond with humans, amplify their deepest desires, and transform them into dangerous monsters. Through her connection with Natsuki, Chihaya is granted the power to transform into a magical warrior known as Carmein. In this form, she gains a taller, more mature and curvaceous body with red hair, and she wears a distinctive pink qipao-style outfit. Her primary weapon is a magical wand, which she uses to purify the seed-possessed humans, returning them to their normal state without any memory of their transformation.

Chihaya initially shows reluctance toward her new role but gradually grows to accept and embrace her responsibilities as a protector. Her motivations are driven by her inherent kindness and a determination to help others. Her mission becomes more complex with the arrival of other warriors, including her friend Sayaka Mizushiro, who transforms into Cerulean Blue. Their relationship shifts from initial rivalry to a cooperative partnership in battle. Another key figure is the transfer student Emi Kojima, who is revealed to be a warrior from Evergreen named Septem.

A core part of Chihaya's background involves her family. She was raised by her mother and believed her father to be dead before her birth. However, it is later revealed that her father is Bergamot, a fugitive from Evergreen who was originally manipulated into stealing the magical seeds. He and Septem return to Earth not as enemies, but to protect Chihaya from the true antagonist, Fennel, who seeks to harness her power for destruction. This revelation forces Chihaya to confront her heritage and understand her father's complicated motivations.

Throughout her journey, Chihaya balances her ordinary life as a student and café worker with her duties as a magical warrior. Her development is marked by her growth from an insecure girl into a confident protector who learns to reconcile her dual identities. Her abilities as Carmein are directly linked to Natsuki, and the method of her transformation varies across different adaptations, sometimes requiring a kiss and at other times using golden marbles.
