Daisuke Motomiya, born in 1991, is a central character in the Digimon Adventure continuity. He first encountered Digimon indirectly in 1999 when Myotismon held him and his family hostage at Tokyo Big Sight in Odaiba. By 2002, as an 11-year-old Odaiba Elementary School student, he became an active Chosen Child. Discovering his partner Veemon after moving a Digi-Egg marked with the Crest of Courage during an urgent mission to the Digital World, he received a D-3 Digivice. He later inherited Tai Kamiya's goggles after his own broke, signaling his emerging leadership among the new DigiDestined. Characterized by stubbornness, optimism, and fierce loyalty, Daisuke initially struggled with social connections and self-doubt, particularly about friendship, making him hesitant to claim the Digi-Egg of Friendship. His dedication to friends and willingness to offer second chances, notably to the reformed Ken Ichijouji, marked significant growth. Persistent, largely unspoken romantic feelings for Hikari Yagami caused early tension with Takeru Takaishi, though these feelings subsided as he matured and focused on responsibilities. During Digimon Adventure 02's conflicts, Daisuke proved pivotal. He obtained the Digi-Egg of Miracles, enabling Veemon's evolution to Magnamon to defeat Kimeramon. His unwavering belief facilitated Ken's redemption and their Jogress evolution to Paildramon. In the final battle against BelialVamdemon, he alone resisted the enemy's illusions, content with his life and relationships. His declaration of his dream—owning a ramen cart—helped rally hope and fuel the villain's defeat. Subsequent appearances showed continued development. In Digimon Adventure tri. (2005), he, alongside Ken, Miyako, and Cody, was captured and placed in stasis by Alphamon, later being rescued. By Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna (2010), the 19-year-old managed a ramen shop, wore orange sunglasses, and retained his partnership with Veemon, assisting in rescuing other DigiDestined from Eosmon clones. In Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning (February 2012), the 20-year-old Daisuke attended culinary school while training at a ramen restaurant. On the shop's closed days, he operated it independently, serving his signature "Iekei" ramen. Living alone, he researched ramen daily alongside Veemon, their bond strengthened through shared culinary passion and past battles. During this period, he and his friends encountered Rui Owada, a man claiming to be the world's first Chosen Child, after rescuing him from a fall at Tokyo Tower. His future, depicted in the 02 epilogue (2027–2028), shows him as a successful businessman owning a global ramen chain originating from his popular cart in America. Married with a son, he entrusted Tai's goggles to his child. Despite corporate success, he retained his love for the ramen cart, taking his son and his son's Chibimon partner on tours of the Digital World, emphasizing enduring passion for simple joys and family.
