Kareha is a student at Verbena Academy and a resident of the divine realm, the world of the gods. She is a close friend and classmate of Asa Shigure, and the two have been inseparable since their first year of school. Kareha works part-time as a waitress at a cafe called Flora, a popular spot that Rin and his friends frequently visit. She lives in a Western-style house in a residential area with her parents and her younger sister, Tsubomi.

In terms of personality, Kareha is generally laid-back and has a calming presence, but she is also an excessive romanticist with a very strong tendency to daydream. She often constructs elaborate love stories in her head from ordinary, romantic situations. When she becomes lost in these fantasies, her catchphrase is to excitedly repeat “Maa! Maa!! Maa!!!” Her charming and slightly oblivious nature, such as not realizing when she is acting in a forward manner, makes her endearing to others. Despite her penchant for wild fantasies, she is remarkably clear-headed when it comes to recalling actual events, remembering details with perfect accuracy even after drinking alcohol. This stands in direct contrast to her best friend, Asa.

Kareha is a very capable individual. As a god who has lived in the human world for over a decade, she is well-versed in human language and history. She is also proficient in magic and displays excellent motor skills, making her adept at sports as well. Alongside Asa, she is a distinguished member of the cooking club, where her skill has earned her the nickname Kareha of Healing, and she is particularly fond of making fruit-based desserts. Her primary motivation for her part-time job is to save money for a graduation gift and a trip for Asa.

Her role in the story is primarily as a supportive secondary character. She is a loyal and supportive friend to Asa, often seen cheering her on or playfully teasing her about her relationship with Rin Tsuchimi. While she does not compete for his affection as openly as others, Kareha secretly harbors a crush on Rin. Her feelings are more directly explored in certain versions of the source material, such as the PS2 release and Shuffle! Essence+, where she becomes a character with her own narrative path. She and her younger sister are also revealed to be secret members of Rin’s fan club. Kareha does not undergo a significant personal transformation in the main storyline, remaining a constant, warm, and entertaining friend.
