Description
Kinu is the wife of Jin, a man afflicted by a type of mushi known as the Imenonoawai, which causes his dreams to manifest as reality. Living with her husband in a small village, their life together is first marked by tragedy when their daughter is killed by a tsunami that Jin, having taken medicine to suppress his dreams, failed to foresee. In the aftermath of this loss, Kinu is present during the pivotal event that defines her role in the story. After a particularly horrific nightmare, Jin dismisses her concern. The following day, Kinu becomes the direct victim of her husband's uncontrolled power when a blue mold, exactly as Jin had dreamed, spreads from her fingertips and causes her entire body to crumble away. This event leads to a plague of the same mold that wipes out the rest of their village, leaving Jin as the sole survivor.

Kinu’s primary role in the narrative is as a tragic catalyst. Her death is the central, irreversible consequence that reveals the true, dangerous nature of the mushi afflicting Jin. It is the horror of seeing his dream destroy his wife that leads Jin to realize the mushi does not show the future, but creates it. Her fate directly shapes Jin’s subsequent actions, fueling his rage and despair, which ultimately leads him to attempt to destroy the mushi by cutting his pillow and suffering a fatal wound from which he never fully recovers. No information is available regarding Kinu’s personal background before her marriage, her individual personality traits or motivations, any development she undergoes, or any notable abilities of her own. Her key relationship is defined solely by her marriage to Jin and her role as a mother to their deceased child.
