Description
Nemu Asakura is the main female protagonist of D.C.S.S. ~Da Capo Second Season~. She grew up as the adopted sister of Junichi Asakura, having been taken in by his family after her parents died in a traffic accident. Because she and Junichi share the same birthday, they were raised as twins. Nemu is a diligent and serious honor student who serves on the Public Morals Committee and is popular at school, but she develops a noticeably colder, excessively polite and antisocial demeanor when her mood turns sour, a state Junichi calls hidden Nemu. Deeply in love with her stepbrother, she becomes intensely jealous whenever other girls show him affection, often reacting with so-called accidental violence to disrupt their interactions.

Her motivation is rooted in a lifelong devotion to Junichi; she wants to be the one who supports and cares for him. This drive leads her to pursue a career in nursing, and in D.C.S.S. the story follows her enrollment at a nursing school, which causes her to be absent from the island for two years. During that time she deliberately cuts off contact with Junichi because she feels she would only rely on him and never grow. Her return to the island and her gradual reconciliation with Junichi form a major part of her character arc, showing her maturation from an overly possessive sister into a more independent yet still loving partner.

Nemu’s key relationships include her bond with Junichi, her rivalry with Sakura Yoshino for his attention, and her friendship with Miharu Amakase, with whom she serves on the discipline committee. She also has a special talent for creating food so terrible that Junichi privately calls her the Murderous Chef. A small bell given to her by Junichi when they were young is a cherished accessory, symbolizing their connection. By the end of the series, Nemu’s journey comes full circle as she accepts her feelings and her career path, ultimately marrying Junichi. Her notable abilities beyond nursing are limited to her disastrous cooking, which remains a running gag, and her volatile emotional states that she learns to control over time.
