Description
Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is the main protagonist of his namesake series, a singularly bizarre and powerful hero who stands against the tyrannical forces of the Maruhage Empire, also known as the Chrome Dome Empire, in the futuristic year of 300X. This empire, led by Emperor Tsuru Tsurulina IV, has initiated a brutal Hair Hunt, a crusade to shave every head in the world and enforce baldness as a symbol of submission. Physically, Bo-bobo is an eccentric and imposing figure, characterized by his immense, muscular physique and a giant, spherical, golden afro, which he often accessorizes with a pair of sunglasses. He is 27 years old.

Defining Bo-bobo's personality is a challenge, as his behavior is deliberately unpredictable and incomprehensible, even to his own allies. He is the master of Hajike, a style of fighting and being that relies on confusing, nonsensical, and surreal antics to overwhelm his opponents mentally. His actions can range from suddenly cross-dressing to launching into bizarre, fourth-wall-breaking tangents. Despite this chaotic nature, he can retain a semi-serious composure when faced with truly powerful enemies, showing a hidden depth and strategic mind. He is also surprisingly sensitive; even mild criticism can send him into a deep depression, and he becomes deeply offended if anyone calls his show or methods stupid. While he is the hero, he frequently and unapologetically beats up, uses as a shield, or otherwise torments his own comrades, particularly Don Patch and Jelly Jiggler, for being annoying or foolish, yet he does so out of a skewed sense of camaraderie.

Bo-bobo's primary motivation is the protection of hair and the freedom it represents, fighting against the oppressive ideology of the Maruhage Empire. This mission begins in earnest when he rescues a teenage girl named Beauty from Hair Hunters, and she becomes a key figure under his protection and a constant companion on his journey. He is fiercely protective of her, vowing to destroy anyone who hurts her. His role in the story is to lead a small, ever-growing group of rebels on a chaotic, gag-filled quest to dismantle the empire, traveling from one bizarre locale to another and recruiting a host of eccentric allies along the way.

His key relationships are varied and defined by his unpredictable nature. With Beauty, he acts as a guardian, and she serves as a moral compass and a source of exasperation at his antics. He shares a particularly powerful and strange bond with Don Patch, often using him as a living weapon or projectile, yet the two form a formidable and close team. He has a more serious and stable friendship with characters like Softon and Hatenko, reserving his more grounded side for them. His backstory reveals a complex past; he was given to the Hair Hunters as a sacrifice by his father when he was seven years old and has several siblings, including brothers Bebebe, Bababa, and Bibibi, and a sister named Bububu. He was trained in the martial art of the Fist of the Nose Hair and was once a close friend of Captain Battleship, though their friendship ended over a dispute regarding the succession of the Nose Hair Dojo. Throughout the series, he shows noticeable development through his growing group of friends, whom he cares for deeply, and he becomes enraged when they are harmed, such as when his friend Heppokomaru (Gasser) is turned into a statue.

Bo-bobo's most notable abilities stem from his mastery of the Hanage Shinken, the Super Fist of the Nose Hair, which allows him to control his own nose hairs and wield them like powerful, flexible whips in combat. However, this is merely the surface of his true power. His primary strength lies in his ability to use Hajike, or Wiggin' Out, a reality-warping, absurdist power that induces a state of utter confusion and submission in his enemies. He can perform attacks based on wordplay and nonsensical scenarios, and his most potent technique is the Bobobo World, a separate dimension where he traps opponents and assails their sanity. He can also fuse with his allies to create even more powerful and absurd warriors. Adding to his strangeness, a colony of tiny, humanoid boogers lives in his nose who sometimes assist him in battle, and he apparently has an army of teddy bears and squirrels living in his afro at his command.
