TV-Series
Description
Nao Tomori is a main character and the female lead of the story, serving as the driving force behind much of the plot. She is a first-year student and the president of the student council at Hoshinoumi Academy, a position she holds with a firm and determined hand.

Nao has a distinctive appearance, characterized by her white or light grayish hair, which she typically ties back with a black hairband, leaving two locks framing her face. She has striking blue eyes and is most often seen in her school uniform, which consists of a red jacket with a yellow ribbon, a brownish-black pleated skirt, and dark knee-high socks.

Her personality is complex and often contradictory. Nao is described as being self-willed, strong-willed, and eccentric, with a sharp tongue and a tendency to be narcissistic and short-tempered. She is highly intelligent and a hard worker, but her unorthodox methods and behavior can make her difficult to approach. Despite her prickly exterior, she possesses a strong sense of responsibility and a deeply caring nature. She is often seen carrying a camcorder, which she uses to record the abilities of other superpower users as evidence for the student council's missions. One of her few simple pleasures is her love for the rock band ZHIEND.

Her motivations are rooted in a deeply traumatic past. As a child, her older brother, Kazuki, possessed a supernatural ability and was taken away by scientists to be experimented upon. These experiments left him mentally broken and in a persistent, childlike state. Because of her relation to him, Nao was also targeted by these scientists but managed to escape. She was later rescued and brought to Hoshinoumi Academy, a school established to protect ability users from such exploitation. This experience instilled in her a powerful drive to ensure that no other ability user suffers the same fate as her brother, and it is the fundamental reason she dedicates herself to the student council's mission.

In the story, Nao acts as the lynchpin of the student council, which is tasked with finding and regulating other adolescents who have manifested special powers. Her role is often that of the strategist, devising plans to confront and manage these ability users. Her most significant role, however, is in relation to the protagonist, Yū Otosaka. Nao catches Yū misusing his powers and forces him to transfer to Hoshinoumi Academy and join the student council. Their relationship begins antagonistically but slowly develops into a deep bond built on trust and mutual understanding.

One of the most significant demonstrations of her character occurs after Yūs younger sister dies. Yū falls into a deep depression and self-destructive behavior. Nao, with quiet and persistent determination, refuses to abandon him. She spends days searching for him and, in a pivotal moment, cooks him the same egg rice dish his sister used to make, helping to pull him back from the edge of despair. This act reveals the compassionate and loyal heart beneath her often harsh demeanor. Their relationship deepens into a romantic one, and she ultimately becomes the person he holds dearest.

Throughout the narrative, Nao herself undergoes subtle development. Initially closed off and distrusting due to her past betrayals, she learns to rely on and trust her comrades in the student council. Her commitment to her mission never wavers, but her methods become less solitary as she accepts Yū not just as a tool for the council, but as a partner. By the story's end, she makes a profound vow that becomes the anchor for Yūs most difficult journey, promising to become his lover if he succeeds. In the final scenes, after Yū loses his memories, Nao faithfully keeps this promise, staying by his side and introducing herself as his girlfriend, embodying her unwavering loyalty and love.

As an ability user herself, Nao possesses a unique power known as "imperfect invisibility" or "cloak." This ability allows her to disappear from the field of vision of a single person of her choosing. While this does not make her truly invisible to others, it is a highly effective tool for surveillance, infiltration, and surprising individual opponents. Aside from her special ability, Nao is also a capable fighter, demonstrating significant physical strength, including powerful kicks. Her fighting skills, combined with her strategic mind and her ever-present camcorder, make her a formidable and resourceful leader.
