TV-Series
Description
Hypsie is a princess from the planet Lemnos and appears in a single episode of the series. She is introduced as a young woman in distress, found by the crew of the Odyssey aboard a damaged shuttle. Her background is tied to a significant social upheaval: the women of Lemnos have been imprisoned by the planet's men after leading a revolt against them. Her motivation is driven by a need to save her people, as the women are forced to build Tridents, which are weapons for the monstrous Shark Men, serving the gods of Olympus.

Hypsie’s role in the story is twofold. Primarily, she seeks help from Ulysses, hoping to liberate the women of Lemnos. However, she also carries crucial information, as her father, Thoas, who is the king of Lemnos, knows the location of the Kingdom of Hades, which is Ulysses’ ultimate goal. This knowledge makes her mission critical to the overarching narrative. Her key relationships include her father, the king, who has been imprisoned by his own council for opposing the forced labor imposed by the Shark Men. Her relationship with Ulysses is one of mutual assistance; he helps lead the rebellion against the men and the Shark Men, while she provides guidance and familial access to the secret of Hades.

Throughout the episode, Hypsie demonstrates significant development. She begins as a survivor seemingly fleeing for help but quickly reveals herself as determined and courageous, actively participating in the liberation effort. After her father is mortally wounded by the leader of the Shark Men, Hypsie steps into a position of leadership as the new queen of her liberated planet. Her notable abilities are not physical or supernatural but lie in her resilience and her knowledge of Lemnos’ political situation. She is resourceful enough to escape a prison planet to find help and brave enough to return to face the dangers that threaten her people.
