Description
Haruo Tsuchimikado, head of the Tsuchimikado family, is a renowned scholar of Onmyodo. He officiates the naming ceremony for the newly formed Shinsengumi, bestowing their official designation. During this ceremony, he stresses the honor of serving the emperor and underscores their duty to uphold peace and stability. Publicly, he counsels the group to act without bringing disgrace to the Shinsengumi name.

Simultaneously, he is the concealed leader of the Zoumen Oni (Masked Demons), manipulating events behind the scenes in Kyoto. In this role, he distributes mystical masks and swords to samurai, enabling their transformation. Tsuchimikado holds an unshakable belief in the inevitability of fate, asserting that no one can escape their predetermined path. The sole exception is Abe no Haruakira, an ancient Onmyodo master whom Tsuchimikado regards as capable of transcending destiny.

Under Tsuchimikado's direction, Rashoumaru orchestrates Abe no Haruakira's resurrection. Tsuchimikado's objective in reviving this figure extends beyond resolving Japan's internal strife; he intends to wield Abe no Haruakira's power against foreign threats. He envisions this resurrection as a catalyst for Japan's rebirth, seeking to transform the nation through the awakened master's influence.

Tsuchimikado embodies a duality: a respected scholar founding peace through the Shinsengumi, while concurrently masterminding the Masked Demons to fundamentally reshape Japan's future. His actions are consistently driven by his interpretations of Onmyodo principles and his unwavering belief in a grand, transformative design for the country.
