TV-Series
Description
Lee Linho is Nenene Sumiregawa's editor at the publishing company Shueisha. He appears early in the series as the person who hires the Paper Sisters, Michelle, Maggie, and Anita, to act as bodyguards for Nenene during her book tour in Hong Kong. Lee Linho is typically very calm and composed, but his recent attempt to quit smoking is betrayed by a constant nervous habit of chewing on pencils. His role initially seems minor, but as the story unfolds, he is revealed to have a much darker significance. He is secretly an agent of Dokusensha, the organization that opposes the British Library and seeks to control rare books and information. His loyalty to Dokusensha places him behind the scenes of many of the manipulations that endanger Nenene and the Paper Sisters. Lee Linho carries a Zippo lighter that holds hidden notes, which become a crucial clue after his death. He is killed during the course of the series, leaving behind the lighter and written information that exposes Dokusensha's true motives and points the way toward a missing book connected to Yomiko Readman's disappearance. In terms of personal background, Lee Linho is of Chinese nationality and works as an editor, a position that aligns with his deep appreciation for literature. His calm exterior conceals his involvement in a much larger conspiracy, and his development shifts from a supportive if nervously meticulous professional to a figure whose actions have far-reaching consequences. He does not possess any superhuman abilities such as paper manipulation; his strength lies in his secret knowledge and his position within the publishing world and Dokusensha. Key relationships include his professional and protective connection to Nenene Sumiregawa, his hiring and indirect control over the Paper Sisters, and his covert ties to Dokusensha. Through his death, he inadvertently becomes a catalyst for the main characters to pursue the truth.
