Description
Leki is a young member of the Deep Dragon race, also referred to as Wolven in some adaptations. He resembles a wolf cub with black fur, which sometimes appears blue depending on the animation, and bright green eyes. Leki was found wandering alone in a forest by Cleao Everlasting, who assumed he was an ordinary puppy and took him in. In truth, adult Deep Dragons are far more powerful and intelligent than humans, and it is suggested that Leki essentially chose Cleao as much as she chose him.
In terms of personality, Leki is curious and playful, often behaving like a typical animal cub. He can be distracted by simple things such as chasing butterflies. Nevertheless, he is fiercely protective of Cleao and, by extension, the people she cares about. His loyalty is unwavering, and he does not hesitate to confront threats much larger than himself.
Leki’s primary motivation is his bond with Cleao. He stays close to her and follows her without question, showing no desire to return to the wild or to his own kind. This attachment is mutual; Cleao’s affection for Leki proves instrumental in calming a confrontation with adult Deep Dragons who had been angered by the presence of sorcerers. Because of the bond the cub shares with Cleao, the adult dragons relent and allow Leki to remain with her.
Within the story of Orphen: The Revenge, Leki serves as both a source of lighthearted moments and a genuine asset in dangerous situations. He accompanies Cleao, Orphen, and the rest of the group on their travels, often getting into small scrapes or providing comic relief. However, when the group faces genuine peril, Leki’s hidden abilities come to the fore. He can unleash an explosive burst of energy from his body, often accompanied by his eyes glowing green. This power can repel or even destroy enemies, making him a surprisingly effective protector despite his small size.
Leki’s key relationship is with Cleao, who functions as his caretaker and closest companion. He also forms a bond with Orphen and the others, tolerating their presence and sometimes coming to their aid. There is no significant change in Leki’s own nature over the course of Revenge; he remains a cub throughout, but his trust in the group deepens. After their adventures on the Isle of Baltanders, Leki is given the Bracelet of Nomafrozis, which he wears as a collar, a relic that he carries for Orphen.
Among Leki’s notable abilities are his innate magical powers, which manifest as destructive energy blasts. He can also use his paws for physical strikes when needed. As a Deep Dragon, he has the potential to grow into a towering, immensely powerful creature, but within the timeframe of the series he remains a young and developing member of his race.
