Konami Yoshida
Description
Konami Yoshida is a Japanese voice actress born on June 6, 1967, in Tokyo, Japan. She began her career after being noticed while practicing at a training facility, which led to her voice acting debut in 1988 as the character EX Man in the television anime series Mashin Hero Wataru. Over the course of her career, she has been affiliated with several talent management firms, including ARTSVISION, Tokyo Actor's Consumer's Cooperative Society, Production-tanc, and Quatre Stella. In 2006, she established her own voice actor training workshop, Ange d'Or, to teach and mentor newcomers to the profession.
Yoshida is recognized for a wide array of roles in anime, OVAs, and video games from the late 1980s onward. One of her most prominent and enduring roles is that of Umi Ryuzaki in the 1994 television anime series Magic Knight Rayearth, a part she has reprised in later video game projects such as the Super Robot Wars series. She is also well-known for voicing the protagonist Kukuri in the 1994 anime Mahōjin Guru Guru and its 2000 sequel, Doki Doki Densetsu Mahōjin Guru Guru. Another significant and long-running role is Meat Alexandria (also credited as Meat) in the Kinnikuman Nisei (Ultimate Muscle) franchise, which spanned multiple television series and films in the early 2000s.
Her extensive filmography includes a variety of other notable characters. In the early 1990s, she played Mari Shiratori in Matchless Raijin-Oh and appeared in Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket as Dorothy. She voiced Hana Hatsuno and Pagliaccio in the Brave King GaoGaiGar series. In the To Heart 2 franchise, she consistently portrayed the character Ruri Himeyuri across multiple OVAs and video games, including ToHeart2ad and ToHeart2 Dungeon Travelers. She also took over the role of the main character Gash Bell for the final episodes of the Konjiki no Gash Bell!! anime.
Yoshida frequently collaborated with fellow voice actress Kae Araki, who was her senior at the Japan Narration Actor Institute. Her work in video games is extensive, with credits including the role of Kukuru in the Arc the Lad series, Millie and Phia in Star Ocean, Roll in the Mega Man Classic series, and Princess Alena in the Dragon Quest CD Theater dramas. Her performance as Kukuri in the original Mahōjin Guru Guru anime is noted for a period where she experienced vocal fatigue, requiring her to adapt her performance. She also performed the theme song Setsunakute for the second season of Magic Knight Rayearth.
