Description
Adlet Mayer, the main protagonist of the story, is a young man of nearly eighteen years who proudly and persistently declares himself to be the strongest man in the world. This bold claim, often met with mockery from others who call him an idiot, is not a reflection of raw, supernatural power but rather an expression of his unwavering will and unique philosophy on combat. Unlike the other chosen warriors who are either genius fighters or Saints with inherent magical abilities, Adlet defines himself as an ordinary person who has achieved his strength through relentless effort and cunning strategy.

His background is rooted in tragedy. When he was ten years old, a cunning Kyōma, a demon, named Tgurneu destroyed his village, Hasuna. The villagers were brainwashed, and in the ensuing chaos, Adlet's sister, Shetra, and his best friend, Raina, were killed while helping him escape. This event instilled in him a deep and burning hatred for Tgurneu and became his primary motivation for wanting to become a Brave, seeking not just to save the world but to exact revenge. Unable to become a Saint, a title reserved only for women, he sought out Atro Spiker, a reclusive hermit and a master of various fighting styles and scientific knowledge, and underwent eight years of harsh training. Under Atro's tutelage, Adlet learned to fight not with overwhelming force, but with cleverness and ingenuity, using every tool at his disposal to bring down his opponents.

In terms of personality, Adlet is defined by his abnormally strong will and an unyielding refusal to give up, even in the most dire situations. He possesses a strong sense of camaraderie and friendship, and among the group of Braves, he is one of the most trusting and the quickest to try and calm conflicts, often attempting to talk things through rather than resorting to violence. He takes great pride in his pragmatic fighting style, believing that the strongest man in the world is someone who uses everything at his disposal, be it darts, smoke bombs, explosives, or traps, to secure a win. While others may look down on his methods as dirty or despicable, he is well aware that for an ordinary person, this is the only path to becoming the strongest. His confidence is not pure arrogance but a calculated and well-earned self-belief.

Adlet's role in the story is set in motion when he receives the Crest of Six Flowers, the mark of a Brave, on his right hand while imprisoned for crashing a royal tournament. He is freed by Princess Nashetania of Piena, who also bears the crest, and together they journey to the appointed meeting place to defeat the Demon God. However, upon gathering, the heroes discover there are seven Braves instead of six, meaning one of them is an impostor working for the enemy. Suspicion quickly falls upon Adlet, who is the least famous and lacks the obvious supernatural powers of the others, turning him into a primary suspect and an outcast. This forces him to take on the role of a detective, using his intelligence and logical deductions to uncover the true traitor while fighting to prove his own innocence and protect the group from internal collapse.

His key relationships are central to the plot. His bond with Nashetania, who initially shows him great trust, becomes complicated by the overarching mystery and suspicion. He develops a particularly significant relationship with Fremy Speeddraw, the Saint of Gunpowder, who is initially a hostile outsider and known as the Brave-Killer. Despite her distrust and the suspicion of others, Adlet chooses to protect her, seeing a kindred spirit shaped by a painful past. He also shares a tense relationship with Goldof, a fellow Brave who is fiercely loyal to Princess Nashetania and grows jealous of Adlet's closeness to her. Among the heroes, he often acts as a calming influence alongside the older and more experienced Mora, trying to maintain reason within the group.

In terms of development, Adlet's journey challenges his straightforward goal of revenge. He is forced to navigate a web of paranoia and betrayal, relying not on his combat skills alone but on his wits, powers of observation, and his core belief in protecting his comrades. His claim to being the strongest man in the world evolves from a simple boast into a testament of his resilience and his ability to outthink and outlast enemies far more powerful than himself.

Adlet's notable abilities are entirely non-magical, setting him apart from the Saints in the group. His primary weapon is a short sword, which he often uses to parry attacks rather than for direct offense. His true strength lies in the array of tools he carries in the many pouches on his four leather belts, which include various powders, darts, smoke bombs, and explosives that he crafts himself. He also carries an iron box on his back filled with more specialized equipment for fighting Kyōma. His fighting style is highly strategic, focused on using misdirection, traps, and trickery to outmaneuver his opponent, exploiting their weaknesses and catching them off guard. His eight years of grueling physical training have also made him exceptionally resilient, agile, and faster than most of the other heroes.
