Description
Holmes is the protagonist of the short-form anime series and the original mobile game. He operates as a private detective in a gothic interpretation of London, but his methods are highly unconventional as he does not explain mysteries or employ traditional reasoning skills to solve cases. Despite this apparent lack of effort, he consistently manages to resolve the requests that come his way. In addition to his regular detective work, he secretly carries out a mission from the Metropolitan Police of London to search for vampires.

In terms of personality, Holmes is characterized by a profound laziness and a lack of ambition. He is described as a hikikomori and a NEET, preferring to live primarily at night and actively avoiding any kind of strenuous work. He spends most of his time lounging in his dilapidated mansion, often drinking wine on the sofa while neglecting his professional and financial responsibilities. This slothful behavior is a primary source of conflict with those around him, as he shows little interest in adventuring or earning money for basic necessities like rent. While some sources suggest he possesses sharp deductive skills and a deep knowledge of the occult, the core narrative emphasizes his refusal to reason in the conventional sense.

Holmes's role in the story is that of a reluctant detective. The narrative does not focus on an overarching plot but instead centers on his daily life and the episodic cases he cannot avoid. His primary motivation, or lack thereof, is his desire to remain idle. He is driven not by a thirst for justice or intellectual challenge, but by external pressures from his assistant and the secret mission foisted upon him by the police. The central dynamic of the series is the relationship between Holmes and his young assistant, Hudson. While Hudson is eager to work and solve cases, he is constantly exasperated by Holmes's irresponsible and lazy antics, such as attempting to use Hudson as payment for back rent. Despite his frustrations, Hudson remains loyal and acts as the grounded, practical counterpart to his erratic employer. Other key relationships include his house cat, Kira, a talking animal who often mocks both Holmes and Hudson, and Christina, their landlady who possesses formidable strength and has refrained from evicting the lazy detective due to her infatuation with Hudson.

Information regarding Holmes's notable abilities is scarce and contradictory. While some descriptions label him a "vampire detective," others clarify that the series features no actual vampires despite the title. The one consistent trait is his puzzling effectiveness as a detective, as he "always solves the cases requested" without using any apparent method of deduction. There is no reliable direct information about any supernatural or extraordinary combat abilities he may possess. Similarly, there is no reliable direct information about any significant character development or changes he undergoes over the course of the series.
