Description
Quiche is an alien antagonist who appears throughout Tokyo Mew Mew. He belongs to an unnamed alien race, referred to as Cyniclons in some localizations, that is distantly related to humans and originally lived on Earth before being forced to abandon the planet. Quiche arrives on Earth alongside his companions Pie and Tart with the goal of reclaiming it. He harbors deep resentment toward humanity, believing humans have turned the world into a polluted and ruined place, and he supports the plan to destroy the human race using Chimera animals, creatures formed by fusing alien DNA with Earth animals.
In appearance, Quiche is a young-looking alien with pointed ears and deep green hair styled with blunt bangs and gathered at the sides. He typically operates separately from his teammates and is the first of the aliens to confront the Mew Mews directly. In the anime adaptation, he is a lightning user who fights with two bladed weapons called the Sairyutō; by crossing them he can fire pale blue energy beams and launch large spheres of compressed light and electricity. As an alien, he also has superior physical strength, speed, and agility compared to humans, and he is capable of creating and commanding Chimera animals in battle.
Personality-wise, Quiche is sadistic and enjoys tormenting his opponents, regarding his enemies as toys for his amusement. He has a short temper, is highly possessive, and acts impulsively, sometimes even attacking his own allies when he is annoyed or angered. Beneath a sometimes playful and cheerful surface lies a cruel and unstable nature. His most defining trait, however, is his obsessive fixation on Ichigo Momomiya, the leader of the Tokyo Mew Mew team. He considers her the cutest of the Mew Mew girls, affectionately calls her "Kitty cat," and steals her first kiss when they meet. Early on he treats her almost as a favorite plaything, but over time his interest becomes genuine, consuming love. His feelings are complicated by intense jealousy of Masaya Aoyama, Ichigo's crush, whom Quiche repeatedly tries to kill. When Ichigo does not return his affection, he becomes emotionally volatile and can react with violence or desperate, unstable behavior.
Motivation is split between his mission and his personal desires. He remains dedicated to the alien cause and to serving his master Deep Blue, yet his obsession with Ichigo increasingly interferes with that mission. His jealousy, possessiveness, and emotional instability often cloud his judgment and lead him to make reckless decisions that endanger both himself and his teammates. Late in the story, after he is abandoned by Deep Blue for failing to secure the Mew Aqua, his mental state deteriorates further. In a turning point, when Deep Blue threatens Ichigo, Quiche defies his own master and sacrifices himself to protect her, dying from a fatal wound. He is later revived by the power of Mew Aqua released during the final confrontation, and he ultimately accepts Ichigo's bond with Masaya, acknowledging her true feelings.
