Description
Miho Shinohara is a nine-year-old elementary schoolgirl who dreams of becoming a manga artist. Her ordinary life changes when a mysterious stranger gives her two stuffed dinosaurs, Pigu and Mogu, which turn out to be magical fairies. They present her with a sketchbook and pen that allow her to bring her drawings to life, and more importantly, to transform into a fifteen-year-old girl she names Fancy Lala. As Lala, she is scouted by the president of a talent agency and begins a career as a model and singer. Miho is shy, kind-hearted, and prone to daydreaming, but she has a stubborn streak when defending her friends or pursuing her ambitions. She often feels overshadowed by her older sister Chisa, who is praised for her intelligence and beauty, which fuels Miho's desire to prove herself. Her motivations are driven by a love for creativity and a wish to be recognized for her own talents. Throughout the series, Miho navigates the challenges of maintaining her double life, learning about the pressures of fame, the importance of honesty, and the limitations of her magic. She cares deeply for her family, including her supportive parents and her sister, and shares a close friendship with her childhood neighbor Taro Yoshida. Her relationship with her manager Hiroya Aikawa grows from professional to personal, offering her guidance and emotional support. As she matures, Miho becomes more confident in her own abilities, eventually understanding that her true self is valuable regardless of her magical alter ego. Her notable abilities include the power to transform at will, though the magic has its restrictions, such as requiring the sketchbook and pen and being influenced by her emotional state. She can also temporarily give life to objects she draws. The journey of Miho Shinohara is one of self-discovery, where magic serves as a tool for her to grow into a more assured and compassionate individual.
