Description
Pedro Domingo is a supporting character in the anime Excel Saga, where his story is greatly expanded compared to his original appearance in the manga. He is a Colombian immigrant who leaves South America and travels to Japan to work as a laborer, intending to earn money to support his wife and young son. While working at a construction site, he dies in a large fire for which Excel is at least partly responsible, and he returns as a wandering spirit unable to move on.
After his death, Pedro spends time in the company of the Great Will of the Macrocosm, a cosmic entity, before escaping and making his way back to his family's home. There he finds that his loved ones have moved on without him: his wife has started a relationship with his neighbor and former co-worker, Gomez, and his son now calls Gomez his father. Because he is a bodiless ghost, almost no one can see or hear him, leaving him isolated and powerless to reclaim his former life. His efforts to communicate with the living lead him to possess a witch doctor, but the resulting appearance repels his wife, who tells him never to come back.
Pedro's central motivation is his desire to reunite with his family and to confront Gomez, who is eventually revealed to be That Man, one of the six members of the organization ACROSS, operating in disguise. His rivalry with Gomez gives the anime a recurring side plot in which Pedro tries to win back his wife and son while seeking to expose the man who replaced him.
