Description
Kazumi Schlierenzauer is a witch who escaped from a research laboratory known as Vingulf, where she was held and subjected to experimentation. Her research identification number is 2670. She is a girl of short stature with short pink hair and blue eyes, and she is notably sensitive about her flat chest. Of mixed heritage, she is half-Japanese and half-Austrian, which allows her to speak both Japanese and German; her Japanese has a distinct Kansai dialect. She uses the full name Kazumi Schlierenzauer when she transfers into the same school as the protagonist, Ryouta Murakami, and she quickly becomes a member of the school's Astronomy Club, which serves as a base of operations for the main group.

On the surface, Kazumi often appears confident, smug, and rarely phased by the dangerous situations around her. She is extremely forward and sexually aggressive, particularly towards Ryouta, frequently teasing him with her body and making provocative statements, including expressing a desire to bear his child as living proof of her existence. This behavior is a way for her to express feelings that she otherwise finds difficult to communicate. However, this strong exterior is a facade that conceals a much more fragile interior. Having suffered through years of imprisonment and the constant threat of death, she is a deeply traumatized young woman who bottles up her own despair and feelings of fear. She admits that she has always been afraid and has always wanted to cry in front of someone, revealing that her confident attitude is an act to help her cope.

Kazumi's primary motivation is survival, but this quickly expands to include the protection of her new friends. When first introduced, she is desperate for the life-sustaining pills that witches require, initially appearing selfish by demanding half of the medicine that Ryouta and the others plan to steal. However, her true nature is revealed when she secretly splits her very last pill with a dying Kana Tachibana, showing her deep-seated kindness and selflessness. By bonding with the other members of the Astronomy Club, she finds a new reason to live beyond mere survival, becoming fiercely loyal to her newfound companions.

In the story, Kazumi serves as the group's technological specialist. Her magical ability is a powerful form of technopathy that allows her to interface with and control computer networks. She can perform prime factor decomposition in seconds, a feat that would take supercomputers decades, allowing her to break any encryption and bypass any security system. Officially ranked as a B-level magician, this classification is a deliberate deception. During her testing at the laboratory, she was asked to kill someone and purposely performed poorly to avoid having to take a life. Because of this, her true potential was hidden, and her actual ability far surpasses her ranking, allowing her to compete with and even overwhelm AAA-level magicians who possess the same power. She uses her abilities to help the group break into secure facilities, navigate surveillance camera networks, and gather critical information.

Kazumi shares key relationships with the other main characters. Her dynamic with Ryouta is central to her character. While she continually makes aggressive sexual advances towards him, she also develops genuine romantic feelings. She is aware that Ryouta's heart belongs to Neko Kuroha, the female lead, which leads to moments of private devastation and rivalry. Her relationship with Neko is complex; they are both rivals for Ryouta's affection, leading to frequent friction, but they are also close friends who care about each other. Kazumi is also a friend to the other witches like Hatsuna Wakabayashi, whom she knew from the laboratory, and Kana Tachibana, whose life she saves by sharing her medicine.

Throughout her journey, Kazumi undergoes notable development. She transitions from a girl solely focused on her own survival to a young woman willing to sacrifice herself for others. Her initial selfish demands give way to selfless acts of kindness. Despite her bold and often comedic personality, she struggles with her own perceived worth and her unrequited love for Ryouta. In a critical moment, she performs a selfless act to protect him, accepting her fate and entrusting him to Neko's care. After a point, she is killed but later revived through the healing powers of another witch. Even after this traumatic event, she continues to fight alongside her friends, confronting the organization that created her.
