Description
Gokudo, whose full name is Gokudo Yuccot Kikansky, is the central character of his namesake series and a definitive example of an antihero, standing in stark contrast to the typical noble protagonist. At seventeen years old, he is an adventurer driven by two primary desires: acquiring wealth and the attention of women. His personality is a collection of largely unheroic traits; he is openly rude, profoundly greedy, and inherently lazy, preferring to avoid work unless it directly benefits him. Cowardice is another dominant characteristic, as he is almost always the first to flee from danger, showing no hesitation in abandoning his companions to save himself. He lies, steals, and cheats without a second thought, and he is known for skipping out on bills, pickpocketing, and swindling anyone for gold.

The root of his selfish worldview can be traced to his background, as he is an orphan who was left in the care of uncaring guardians, teaching him that he could only rely on himself. This has led to a complete lack of conscience regarding his actions, which he always believes are justified from his own perspective. Despite his many flaws, his personality is not entirely static. While he remains a jerk for the majority of the series, there are moments where a subtle change occurs. When truly aggravated or when his so-called friends are seriously harmed, he has shown the capacity for courage and even a hint of caring, such as when he became genuinely upset after a villain turned his companions to stone. He speaks his mind without any filter, a habit that earns him hostility from nearly every person he encounters.

Gokudo's role in the story is that of a reluctant participant in adventure. He is often dragged into quests against his will, frequently by the magical genie who becomes his companion, Jinn. He would never embark on a journey for the greater good, only for his own personal gain, yet he ironically ends up playing a crucial part in defeating evil gods and corrupt forces, usually because they have personally angered him or because a reward is involved. He is frequently at the center of prophecies that he wants nothing to do with.

His key relationships are almost universally strained. Jinn, a genie who emerges from a stolen pouch, acts as Gokudo's best friend and servant. Despite being constantly annoyed by Jinn's strict moral lectures, and Jinn despising his selfish traits, the two share a deep bond, with Jinn often protecting him. With Rubette La Lette, a tomboyish princess who joins his travels, Gokudo has a relationship defined by constant arguing and mutual mockery. He often insults her, and she laughs at his misfortunes, yet they develop a deep, unspoken care for one another, culminating in her kissing him at the series' end. He also travels with Prince Niari, a handsome and skilled mage who is a rival in both magic and womanizing, though their relationship is generally more competitive than antagonistic.

Throughout the series, Gokudo undergoes several bizarre transformations, often against his will. He is frequently transformed into a female body, a form he despises. He also experiences being turned into an old man, a young child, and swapping bodies with Rubette. In terms of abilities, his primary weapon is a magical sword that can shoot fire on his command. He must chant "Magic Sword Appear!" to summon it to his hand. This fire sword is one half of a holy sword, contrasting with his brother's ice sword. Perhaps his most unique and unorthodox ability is his superhuman fart, a powerful blast of toxic fumes he calls a fartbomb. This ability is effective for attacking enemies and even opening magical seals, but its smell is toxic to everyone except himself. Despite his human origins, he occasionally accesses extraordinary godlike powers, such as absorbing the power of a demon god within his dreams to gain immense strength.
