Christine Richard publicly poses as the fiancée of former Tokyo police superintendent Tsutomu Muranaka, using wedding preparations to conceal her true agenda. Her real identity is Plamya, a Russian terrorist and international hitman specializing in explosive devices; "Plamya" means "flame." Operating first in Russia, she gained notoriety orchestrating deadly bombings that spurred survivors to form the hunter group Nado Unichtozit for vengeance.
Her link to Japan began years earlier with a failed bombing plot. Her device in an abandoned building was disabled by Metropolitan Police Academy graduates Rei Furuya and Jinpei Matsuda. She escaped after a gunfight with Furuya that left her with a gunshot wound to her right arm, a key identifier. This fueled her obsessive revenge, especially after Matsuda later died in an unrelated bombing.
Plamya's signature weapon is complex liquid explosives requiring two merged components to detonate, often hidden in everyday items like tablets or collars. She manipulates strategically, like freeing the serial bomber responsible for Matsuda's death from Fuchu Prison only to fit him with a collar bomb, using him as bait to lure Furuya. When Furuya and his subordinate Yuya Kazami cornered the bomber, she detonated the device remotely, killing the bomber and injuring Kazami, then placing an identical collar bomb on Furuya.
Infiltrating Japanese high society through the Muranaka engagement served multiple goals: acquiring citizenship to evade recognition, luring Nado Unichtozit members to Japan for elimination, and erasing witnesses. She orchestrated interconnected plots, including sending threatening letters to her own wedding under the Plamya alias to maintain her victim cover. She manipulated the Detective Boys into retrieving a "wedding gift" that was a bomb trap, which they narrowly escaped. She also rigged Shibuya's Halloween festival balloons with her liquid explosives, planning mass casualties.
Exposure came during the wedding ceremony when Conan Edogawa deduced her identity with help from Nado Unichtozit leader Yelenika Lavrentyeva. The critical evidence was her impaired right arm—the lingering damage from Furuya’s gunshot—which she couldn't lift fully. Unmasked, she discarded her bride persona, initiated a chapel gunfight, and attempted to flee via helicopter, gleefully confessing her plan to annihilate Shibuya. Her helicopter was intercepted by Furuya, who had neutralized his collar bomb using a counter-agent developed from Conan’s earlier explosive sample. During the confrontation, she threw a grenade and triggered the collar bomb’s detonator, unaware Furuya had replaced it in the helicopter. The explosion caused a crash, but both survived. In a final rage, she tried to kill the injured Furuya before being subdued by Muranaka and arrested.
Post-capture, she faced justice. Conan, law enforcement, Nado Unichtozit, and the Detective Boys prevented her city-wide bombing plot by using a giant inflatable ball to separate the explosive liquids dispersed across Shibuya.
