TV-Series
Description
Miki is a notable parasite in Parasyte -the maxim-, distinguished by being composed of five separate parasite individuals sharing a single human host body, located within both arms, both legs, and the head. This unique composition is the result of experiments conducted by Reiko Tamura in an effort to create an especially powerful parasite. Miki’s core form functions as the right arm of Gotou, a more formidable composite being, and he works alongside Gotou and other parasites in their coordinated efforts.

Miki’s appearance is that of a muscular man with brown hair and black eyes. He typically wears an orange and black jacket over a black tank top, lending him a casual and unassuming look that contrasts with his true nature. What truly sets Miki apart from most parasites is his personality. Unlike the cold, logical, and emotionally minimal demeanour common among his kind, Miki is unusually expressive and talkative. He displays a wide range of facial expressions and visible emotional reactions, coming across as casual, cheerful, and easygoing. He takes particular interest in mimicking human facial expressions and mannerisms, a hobby that seems to entertain him. He prefers using exaggerated facial expressions and a sense of humor over a serious approach, using these traits to unsettle his enemies during battle.

Miki’s motivations are largely tied to his curiosity about human behaviour and his desire for combat experience. He is intrigued by the partnership between Shinichi Izumi and his symbiotic parasite Migi, making remarks about their teamwork. He volunteers for the task of killing Shinichi, eager to prove himself, though Gotou dismisses this request in favour of letting Miki gain more experience.

His role in the story is that of an opponent and obstacle for Shinichi. Miki first appears in a conversation with Reiko Tamura in a café, followed by a visit to an arcade to play video games. He later kills and disposes of an associate of Shirou Kuramori. He participates in meetings discussing how to deal with Shinichi and is eventually sent to eliminate him, leading to a confrontation in a forest.

In terms of abilities, Miki can control five parasites simultaneously but can only actively utilize three at once, which limits his full potential. He excels in close combat, using multiple limbs and blades formed from his parasite cells for both offensive and defensive purposes. He can also shapeshift his head to avoid attacks. Like all parasites, he can detect the signals of other parasites and automatically emits his own. However, his primary weakness is a pronounced lack of coordination. His intense focus on mimicking human expressions and his casual manner cause him to neglect physical control, resulting in him falling several times during combat. Shinichi and Migi exploit this lack of coordination to catch him off guard and ultimately defeat him.

Miki’s key relationships include his connection to Gotou, who seems to tolerate him and allows him freedom; his creation by Reiko Tamura; and his adversarial interest in Shinichi and Migi. His development is limited but notable: he stands out among parasites for his expressive nature and curiosity about human behaviour, making him a memorable and distinct presence within the series. Despite his lack of coordination, he remains a powerful and dangerous opponent due to his unique body structure and combat abilities.
