TV-Series
Description
Ersha is a supporting character from the anime CROSS ANGE Rondo of Angel and Dragon. She is a Norma, a designation for those who cannot use the magical energy known as Mana, and she serves as a heavy artillery member of the First Troop at the Norma island基地 of Arzenal. Her role within the troop is distinct from many of her peers, as she often acts as a maternal figure to the younger Norma and the preschool children living on the island. Her name is a variation of the Hindu name Esha, which means desire, alluding to her strong maternal wish to provide a happy future for the children under her care.

In terms of appearance, Ersha is a beautiful young woman with a kind and gentle face. She has long pink hair that reaches past her waist and green eyes. She possesses a tall, slender, and voluptuous figure. Her piloting uniform and her personal Para-mail feature an orange color scheme, which she maintains even after later changing factions and receiving a new Ragna-mail, the Raziya.

Ersha's personality is characterized by her deep kindness and acceptance. She is one of the first Norma to welcome the protagonist Ange to Arzenal, remaining friendly and supportive even when Ange was hostile and withdrawn. She acts as a mother figure not only to the young children but also to her fellow squad members; the dragon-girl Vivian comments that Ersha shares the same scent as her own mother. Despite this generally nurturing and peaceful demeanor, Ersha has a notable temper that can flare up when she is agitated, to the point of starting physical brawls with others. Her primary skill outside of combat is cooking, and she is frequently assigned as a chef for the Arzenal personnel, which contributes to her popularity among the children.

Ersha's motivations are centrally tied to her protective instincts. She feels a profound responsibility for the safety and well-being of the preschool children at Arzenal. Her actions throughout the series are driven by her desire to shield them from harm and secure a peaceful future for them. This maternal drive becomes the catalyst for her most significant character arc. When the island of Arzenal comes under a brutal attack by human forces, she fights desperately to defend the children in her care. After eliminating the last soldier, she returns to the room where they were hiding only to discover that all of them have been killed. Her grief is immediate and overwhelming, and at this moment of utter despair, the ancient immortal Embryo appears and uses his powers to resurrect one of the dead children in her arms.

This traumatic event leads Ersha to switch her allegiance from the resistance group Libertus to Embryo. He grants her command of the Ragna-mail Raziya and she becomes a member of his elite Diamond Rose Knights. Her defection is not born of ambition or malice, but of a desperate maternal need to protect the children. She believes that by serving Embryo, she can ensure their safety in the new world he promises to create. She even becomes the principal of a kindergarten he establishes. However, her alliance with him is based on a profound manipulation; Embryo values her maternal instincts only as a tool to secure her loyalty.

Ersha's key relationships within the story are varied. She shares a close bond with fellow First Troop members like Vivian and Hilda, and she is shown to have a caring, if sometimes strained, connection with Salia and Chris. Her relationship with Ange is significant, as Ersha is one of the few who showed her kindness from the beginning. However, her most defining relationship is with Embryo, whom she initially sees as a savior but eventually recognizes as a cruel manipulator. This realization occurs when the preschool children she was protecting are killed a second time during a conflict. When she begs Embryo to resurrect them again, he refuses, revealing his true nature and that he never intended to allow the children into his ideal world. Embryo violently chokes her, exposing her vulnerability and showing her that she was merely a pawn.

Shattered by this betrayal, Ersha undergoes a significant development. She becomes filled with sorrow and realizes how she was deceived into betraying her friends for nothing. Breaking free from his influence, she hijacks her Ragna-mail, defects from the Diamond Rose Knights, and reunites with Libertus to help defeat Embryo. Her journey is one from a kind and supportive caregiver to a grief-stricken traitor, and finally to a disillusioned but resolute warrior fighting to correct her mistakes.

In terms of notable abilities, Ersha is a competent Para-mail pilot, starting with her custom Hauser unit and later piloting the more powerful Ragna-mail Raziya. She displays considerable physical strength, being able to physically restrain her fellow squad members Rosalie and Chris despite their resistance. She has also named several of her combat techniques, including the Ersha Lariat, Ersha Special Magnum, Air Ersha Wheel, and Total In-Ersha, though the specific effects of these moves are not detailed. Despite her combat role, it is consistently noted that her true talent lies in cooking, which she is better at than fighting.
