ONA
Description
Esmeraude, also known as Green Esmeraude, is a major antagonist appearing in the second arc of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal. She is a high-ranking member of the Black Moon Clan, a group of descendants from Earth who were exiled to the dark planet Nemesis for opposing the peaceful rule of Neo-Queen Serenity in the 30th century.

In terms of background, Esmeraude is a devoted servant to the clan's leader, Prince Demande, with whom she resides on Nemesis. Her mission, designated Code Extra Operation Re-lax, is to aid in the clan's goal of altering history and defeating the Sailor Guardians. She is summoned to the forefront of the conflict after the initial efforts of her fellow clansman, Rubeus, prove to be insufficient.

Esmeraude is characterized by an intense, all-consuming infatuation with Prince Demande. Her primary motivation is not merely the destruction of the Sailor Guardians, but to win the prince's affection and stand by his side as his queen. This obsessive love makes her fiercely jealous and drives her to prove her worth and power to him at every opportunity. She is depicted as vain, selfish, and possesses a haughty demeanor, believing herself to be superior and deserving of high status. Despite her arrogance, her deep-seated desire for approval from Prince Demande often overrides her better judgment, making her vulnerable to manipulation by more cunning figures like Wiseman.

Her primary role within the Black Moon Clan is as a field commander and a powerful warrior. When the Sailor Guardians travel to the future to the Crystal Palace in the 30th century, Esmeraude personally leads the assault against them. She is entrusted by Wiseman with a dangerous new power called the Beast Hand, a transformative ability that enhances her combat capabilities and which she is eager to use to eliminate Sailor Moon and capture the Legendary Silver Crystal for her prince.

Esmeraude's key relationships are defined by her loyalty and desire. Her most significant connection is with Prince Demande, whom she adores slavishly. She is highly possessive of him and sees the protagonist, Sailor Moon, as a romantic rival. She is often shown working alongside and plotting against her colleague, Rubeus, with whom she shares a competitive and distrustful dynamic. She also takes her orders from the cryptic Wiseman, whose promises of power she eagerly accepts. In battle, she commands two subordinate droids named Chiral and Achiral, also known as the Boule Brothers.

In terms of development, Esmeraude begins as a confident and taunting antagonist who orchestrates intricate plans to trap her enemies. However, after her initial schemes fail and her underlings are destroyed by the Sailor Guardians, She becomes desperate. This desperation leads her to actively seek out a power upgrade from Wiseman, which transforms her hand into the monstrous Beast Hand. This marks a shift from a manipulative strategist to a more direct and physically aggressive combatant. Her story arc concludes with her fiery determination to personally deliver Sailor Moon to Prince Demande, a mission that ultimately leads to her final battle.

Esmeraude possesses several notable abilities. In her standard form, she can generate and throw spheres of dark energy as projectiles. She can also use her black crystal earrings as explosive grenades in combat. Her most distinctive ability is the Beast Hand, a grotesque transformation of her own hand into a powerful, elongated claw. This hand allows her to grab and strangle opponents from a distance, as she attempts to do to the young Chibiusa, and can also drain the energy from multiple targets at once. Her power is significant enough to overwhelm several Sailor Guardians simultaneously.
