Description
Adrian Rubinsky governed as the fifth Landesherr of Fezzan, an autonomous dominion strategically situated between the Galactic Empire and Free Planets Alliance. His mastery of political intrigue and covert maneuvers to sustain Fezzan's economic and strategic importance amidst galactic warfare earned him the title "Black Fox of Fezzan."

Though Fezzan functioned as a neutral trade hub under nominal Imperial oversight, Rubinsky covertly advanced the interests of the Terraist Church (Earth Cult), which aimed to prolong the conflict to establish an Earth-centered theocracy. Privately, Rubinsky deemed this goal obsolete and pursued his own agenda: exploiting Fezzan's position to amass personal power and economic dominance.

Rubinsky orchestrated significant interventions. He supplied intelligence to both warring powers, including warning the Empire of the Alliance's planned invasion, triggering the Battle of Astarte. He instigated an inquiry against Alliance Admiral Yang Wen-li by suggesting to officials that Yang threatened a coup, seeking to destabilize the Alliance military. He facilitated mobilizing Geiersburg Fortress against Iserlohn Fortress and arranged the kidnapping of child emperor Erwin Josef II. This kidnapping aimed to create a pretext for Reinhard von Lohengramm to invade the Alliance, though Rubinsky did not foresee Reinhard annexing Fezzan first in 798 UC (489 IC).

His personal life included relationships with Dominique Saint-Pierré and an unnamed woman, the latter bearing his illegitimate son, Rupert Kesserling. Kesserling served as Rubinsky's aide but later attempted to assassinate him during Fezzan's annexation. Rubinsky's bodyguards killed Kesserling, an event that profoundly impacted Rubinsky.

Following annexation, Rubinsky evaded capture for years, coordinating Imperial sabotage through Terraist networks while suffering from a terminal brain tumor. Imperial strategist Paul von Oberstein traced medicines for his condition, leading to Rubinsky's arrest on Heinessen. Facing imminent death, Rubinsky disconnected his life support, activating a transmitter that detonated pre-planted bombs across Heinessenopolis. The explosions and resulting fires destroyed 30% of the city, causing over 5,000 deaths and 500,000 injuries.

In the *Die Neue These* adaptation, specifically the *Collision* season, Rubinsky's schemes—including manipulating Alliance officials and coordinating with Terraist elements—are depicted as part of Fezzan's broader role in escalating tensions between the Empire and Alliance.
