Description
Ernest Mecklinger was born in 763 UC (454 IC / 3563 CE). Rising to the rank of high admiral in the Galactic Empire under Reinhard von Lohengramm, his early service included participation as a commodore and chief of staff to Admiral Reinhard von Musel during the Fourth Battle of Tiamat in 795 UC (486 IC / 3595 CE). The Imperial High Command later temporarily reassigned Mecklinger and other key subordinates from Reinhard's fleet to Iserlohn Fortress during the Battle of Astarte. Following Reinhard's promotion to Fleet Admiral, Mecklinger advanced within the Lohengramm admiralty. In 796 UC (487 IC / 3596 CE), he commanded fleets in significant conflicts, inflicting 30% casualties and forcing the retreat of the Free Planets Alliance's 8th Fleet at the Battle of Wansteidt, and participated in the Battle of Amritsar against remaining Alliance forces in Imperial territory.

Selected as part of Reinhard's core group of admirals replacing nobility with commoners and lesser nobles, alongside figures like Wolfgang Mittermeyer and Oskar von Reuenthal, Mecklinger fought in the Imperial Civil War of 797 UC (488 IC / 3597 CE), specifically in the final battle against the Lippstadt League near Geiersburg Fortress. Assigned to command rear line forces during Operation Ragnarök in 798 UC (489 IC / 3598 CE), he remained on Odin while Reinhard invaded the Free Planets Alliance. That same year, he undertook a political mission at Hildegard von Mariendorf's request, visiting her cousin Baron Heinrich von Kümmel at his estate, coinciding with strategic developments involving Geiersburg Fortress.

By 800 UC (2 NIC / 491 IC / 3600 CE), Mecklinger collaborated with admirals Ulrich Kesler and August Samuel Wahlen on Imperial homeland security arrangements. He later blockaded the Imperial end of the Iserlohn Corridor against Yang Wen-li but was outmaneuvered when Yang feigned a full assault, forcing Mecklinger's withdrawal. During the Reuenthal Rebellion, Mecklinger gained passage through the Iserlohn Corridor with the Iserlohn Republic's cooperation. While not directly engaging in combat, he reopened investigations into the attempted assassination of Reinhard on Uruvasi, uncovering Terraist involvement. In 801 UC (3 NIC / 492 IC / 3601 CE), he participated in the final confrontation against the Iserlohn Forces aboard Reinhard's flagship Brünhild. Reinhard later recommended Mecklinger for promotion to Fleet Admiral on his deathbed.

Known as the "Artistic Admiral" for scholarly pursuits and artistic achievements, Mecklinger won awards in prose poetry and watercolor from the Imperial Academy of Art; his piano skills were noted for their "perfect fusion of daring and delicacy." Post-war, he authored analytical essays evaluating contemporary admirals, ranking Reinhard as supreme commander and characterizing Yang Wen-li as a strategist rather than a combat leader. He also criticized Admiral Bittenfeld for prioritizing Reinhard's rescue over saving historical artworks during a fire. Mecklinger notably appreciated Reinhard's efforts to engage with non-military cultural activities.
