TV-Series
Description
John, a three-banded armadillo from South America, sports a compact, soccer-ball-sized frame with white fluffy fur across his front and orange armored plates along his back. His shell enables defensive curling into a ball, serving both as protection and a projectile during clashes. Though incapable of human speech, he communicates through gestures, vocalizations like “nu” or “nyu,” and expressive body language, with only Draluc fully deciphering his intentions.
Separated from his family during a vampire mosquito attack, John was rescued injured by Draluc’s grandfather and placed under Draluc’s care. As a youth, he earned hero status among armadillos by courageously defending his kin from another mosquito threat. Despite this, Draluc attempted to leave him with his species for his safety. Refusing separation, John trekked continents alone, guided by a photo of Draluc’s castle, aided by strangers, and fueled by loyalty. Their reunion solidified when John saved Draluc from an ostrich vampire, forging an unbreakable blood pact that granted him immortality as Draluc’s official familiar.
Loyal and empathetic, John internalizes distress when neglected by Draluc. He craves pancakes and fried chicken but recoils from whole Chinese cabbage due to a traumatic vampirized-vegetable encounter. Playful antics with Draluc include hide-and-seek, bowling, and treasure hunts, though he often becomes an unwilling living shield or projectile, sparking slapstick mishaps.
Their unique familiar contract forbids unilateral termination, underscoring mutual devotion. John later reconnected with his biological parents during a visit to the Hill of Armadillos but chose to remain with Draluc. Quirks include chewing fluttery fabrics scented with food aromas and relying on Draluc for shell moisturization.
Formally dubbed “John O Guardian,” his name originated from a convoluted placeholder title proposed by Draluc’s relatives. His birthdate marks July 1, commemorating their first meeting. Universally adored, his mistaken kidnapping once prompted a collective rescue effort, yet his autonomy and independent choices remain pivotal to his growth.
