Selected among thirteen angels to find a human successor for the retiring God, Balta intervened during Hajime Sokotani's suicide attempt following his mother's death. Appearing before Hajime, Balta offered him the powers of a first-rank angel: Wings enabling flight and a Red Arrow capable of inducing profound love and obedience in targets for 33 days.

Balta's acute intuition guided Hajime throughout their journey. He intuitively recognized Hajime's inner turmoil, from his despair after using the Red Arrow to his burgeoning admiration for the superhero Metropoliman. Balta actively encouraged Hajime to emulate the hero, aiding him in obtaining cosmetic surgery for a heroic appearance and later uncovering Metropoliman's true identity as Kanade Uryu. Privately, Balta expressed intuitive concerns that Metropoliman's ascension to God would trigger humanity's near-extinction.

After Hajime's death, Balta transported his soul to heaven, speaking of him fondly and maintaining his respectful support. He later disclosed Metropoliman's identity to Susumu Yuito, another god candidate.
