Description
Atsushi "Akkun" Sendo is Takemichi Hanagaki's childhood friend and the founding leader of a small delinquent group at Shibuya Middle School, consisting of Makoto Suzuki, Takuya Yamamoto, and Kazushi Yamagishi. His distinctive appearance features a plum pompadour hairstyle decorated with multiple hair clips, light heather eyes, and his school uniform, later swapped for the Tokyo Manji Gang uniform. An alternate timeline alters his look to very short hair, tattoos on both arms, a cross necklace, visible facial marks, and a left ear piercing.
He displays strong confidence as a leader and deep loyalty to his friends, showing particular protectiveness toward the less combative Takuya Yamamoto. This protective nature escalates to a willingness to use lethal violence when cornered, such as planning to stab Masataka Kiyomizu to free his group from forced underground fights. Inspired by Takemichi's resolve, he later overcomes his reliance on weapons, declaring during his fight against Shion Madarame that he would no longer resort to cowardly methods.
His background involves key timeline events. In 2005, his group is subjugated and enslaved for brutal fights by Kiyomizu's faction. Following Takemichi's intervention, he avoids a criminal future and joins the Tokyo Manji Gang. He serves in the First Division under Takashi Mitsuya, participating in major conflicts like the Moebius Arc battles and the Tenjiku Arc rumble against random members. His combat ability is competent but inconsistent; he defeats Shion Madarame one-on-one and holds his own against opponents like Red, though sometimes overmatched.
His fate diverges across timelines. Originally in 2017, he becomes a convicted criminal and commits suicide out of fear. In revised timelines, he survives into adulthood, leaves gang life, and fulfills his dream of becoming a hairstylist. By the "Bonten" timeline, he is an upper-echelon Tokyo Manji Gang administrator, while in the "Three Deities" timeline, he operates his own hair salon. His relationships include admiration for Takemichi's courage and close bonds with his original friend group, maintaining a reserved demeanor outside these connections.
His skills encompass leadership of his initial group and street-level fighting prowess. He uses a knife when insecure but gradually relies less on weapons as his confidence grows. He possesses athletic speed, durability, and street-tier combat capability. Personal preferences include an affinity for regent hairstyles, admiration for Elvis Presley, regular visits to his cousin's Harajuku beauty salon, a dislike of punch perm hairstyles, and associating his image color with orange.
