Description
Ryōhei Hayashi, known as Peh-yan, holds the position of Third Division Vice-Captain within the Tokyo Manji Gang (Toman). He possesses a tall, imposing stature at 176 cm and 56 kg, accentuated by short blonde hair and an intimidating presence. His eyes project a fierce intensity mixed with a perpetual sadness. Peh-yan displays a character marked by aggression and a volatile temper, often viewed by others and himself as lacking intelligence. Yet, his loyalty to Toman and its members, especially his closest friend Haruki Hayashida (Pah-chin), is absolute.

This deep bond originated during their time at Shibuya Second Middle School alongside Takashi Mitsuya. Peh-yan emphatically states that "Pah-chin means everything to me." This devotion fueled his initial rage when Pah-chin was arrested for stabbing Nobutaka Osanai, leading Peh-yan to temporarily defect to a rival gang. In a moment of misguided vengeance, believing Toman abandoned his friend, he attacked Ken Ryūguji (Draken). He later deeply regretted this betrayal upon learning Draken had consistently visited Pah-chin in detention, prompting his return to Toman after receiving forgiveness from Manjirō Sano (Mikey) and Draken.

As a combatant, Peh-yan relies on brute strength and direct tactics, specializing in knockout punches. Despite perceptions of low intelligence, his fighting prowess is formidable; Takashi Mitsuya acknowledges Peh-yan surpasses him in raw power. Notable achievements include defeating multiple Tenjiku members alone and knocking out Shion Madarame, one of Tenjiku’s "Four Heavenly Kings," with a single punch during the Kanto Incident. However, he struggles against elite opponents, falling instantly to Izana Kurokawa’s kick in the same battle. Following his dishonorable attack on Draken, he adopts a personal code to "fight with honor," refusing underhanded tactics thereafter.

After Toman's victory in the Christmas Showdown arc, Peh-yan serves as acting captain of the Third Division during Pah-chin’s absence. In the reformed timeline resulting from Takemichi Hanagaki’s actions, Peh-yan and Pah-chin leave delinquency behind to establish a successful real estate business. Peh-yan also marries a former classmate with whom he previously shared a contentious relationship. During the final conflict against the Kanto Manji Gang, he supports Pah-chin’s challenge to Mikey and attempts to avenge Pah-chin’s defeat, though he is ultimately overpowered.

His journey illustrates a development from impulsive aggression to tempered loyalty, defined by enduring friendships and a commitment to redemption.
